I am sorry for you and all who suffer pain with little to no relief. It seems to drain us of the very energy we need to survive. So vent away~
I blamed a lot on MS only to learn that my severe hip/leg pain was not MS. It was my old lumbar disc issues got much worse, only I had no back pain, it was mostly in my legs. Double radiculpathy or sciatic pain in both legs. Now also my spasticity has gotten slightly worse. But found out that by taking RX Diclofenac for my spinal stenosis inflammation, along with Baclofen, its more controllable now. Also my MS hug (one of my worst symptom as the spasms would take my breatha way) improved with Diclofenac/Baclofen combo. So not everything is MS. Make sure your hip/spine are is not to blame also, whenever you have hip/leg pain. Hope you find relief and soon. Jan

thanks lisa. nothing has really helped with the pain so far. tried baclofen, nuerontin(i deal with mild to moderate spasticity also) and just regular otc pain killers but i think its time to ask my nuero for something stronger. ive just been taking otc sleep aids to force myself to sleep and forget about all these sensations.

I have also had non stop pain for about 4 years now. I agree I get so tired of hearing the "everyone has problems" or "Oh I get that too, you just walked a little more yesterday or pulled a muscle or whatever" speeches.
They just don't get it...I don't just GET this pain every so often....I HAVE this pain 24/7, non-stop, constantly, some days better than others but never completely gone. I have dealt with this pain for 4 years and in those 4 years I have cried many times because of it, seen many Drs because of it, have taken many meds for it (should own half of Ibuprofen manufacturing) and in the last 4 years have very very seldom slept more than 5 hours at a time because the pain wakes me or keeps me awake. Most nights I am elated that I slept 4 hours before the pain wakes me. I am now on Baclofen as I have had, what seems to me major, spasticity since January. I am never without at least 1 muscle somewhere in my body from my chest down in a cramp during the day and night. Mostly happens in my legs and rib cage, but get them in any muscle. I have learned to despise the cramps and spasms when it involves my chest and upper back. If I didn't know what was causing this pain when it happens I would rush to the ER because it is so painful. The bottoms of my feet feel like they are full of glass shards and if I go without shoes for too long they feel bruised. The tops of my feet feel bruised if I wear shoes for too long. I just can't seem to win. I am also taking Lyrica, Potassium and Magnesium...I am still miserable and just want the pain gone. Living with pain all the time is frustrating to say the least.

My Neuro office nurse told me to lay off the Aleve and ibuprofin because the more I take it, the worse my headaches will be in the future. So......I've been laying off and I have a very swollen, very sore left knee that is beggin' for some motrin. LOL. I hope you can get comfortable. When my pain is throbbing, it's all I can think about. My life revolves around and is fully engaged in responding to/mediating pain. I get ya.

I am not sure whether I feel worse about your pain or the morons you are dealing with. I have never had anyone give me the reference to others dealing with pain or serious problems. Frankly, I do not get comfort from hearing that others are worse off. I deal with my own circumstances period. I do feel for the problems of others however, including yours which I share.
CNS caused pain is so difficult to deal with but after dealing with it for 10 years I do feel that some things can lessen it a bit. Hopefully that bit is enough to make it bearable on many days. A bit for me was when I went on an AD along with the normal pain meds but had to give up the AD because of other side effects. But it did take my pain from a 10 to an 8 which along with its sedative effect allowed me to fall asleep. The bed is my enemy so I do not go in until I am ready to sleep. I watch TV in an office chair along side the bed. Night time is worse for me because I have fewer distractions. Some people use a TENS which I think is another way of giving you a different pain to distract you from your CNS pain. I used to get some relief from a wedge pillow which I used to prop up my legs but I think the relief came from lessening my edema. I wear a tight running shoe all day. This keeps edema somewhat less and gives me a sensation which distracts me from the normal pain which is with me 24/7. I use ice compresses when the pain is completely out of control. I think this is another way of using another painful stimuli. I hope that you will find some relief soon. |

I have been dealing with horrid hip, inner thigh (groin area) and from hip to knee thigh spasms and pain. Feels like my leg is being ripped open with a very dull knife. So I understand the pain you are talking about. I've been going for PT since mid March and while some aspects are relieved a bit, some sure seem worse. The pt had me do a new exercise yesterday, like to have killed me for the last 22 hours!
You know I have iced most all of the pains from this problem, last night my DH suggested a hot water bottle. It seems contrary to the problem but thought hey, I need relief, give it a shot. You know, it helped. Not clear why, but ty Honey! I am going to try it again this morning and see if it keeps the pain at bay. |
