    talking bloopers - let's share

Maybe there is a thread like this already? I would like to hear of others mistakes when speaking. Usually I do not remember but this just struck me funny so i thought to share.

My daughter and I were out the other day and her lace broke. We did not know the size. I suggested we stop at WM: "We can go to the fabric depart ... depart ... depart .... departner .... ment ... and have it weighed. Measured." That really took a lot of thought.

I enjoy this particular MS symptom and so do those around me.

Not officially diagnosed due to non-MS-specific spots on MRIs, but the neurologists all agree it's MS.
Frustrated. January 2019: finally saw an MS specialist worth seeing. Maybe we'll get to the bottom of this.
    EDSS of 5.5, sometimes 6.0

I kno kno kno know how you feel. I have the same problem ...lol. I've been stuttering for a while now ... what fun is right.

One day I was talking to my son and I tried to say a sentence and I some how took parts of each word and made one word. Such as: 'How was your day?' and I came out with 'howayoda' ... now what is that? LOL!

Has that ever happened to anyone? Or am I just a special case

Ohhhhh this can be so funny. I mix up words, get a random one in there that obviously doesn't belong, or just lose my whole train of thought mid-sentence. My son says I'm funnier than auto correct.

My biggest thing is slipping the word "probably" into a sentence for no good reason. My other son asked me what a certain word meant while he was reading. I said "It probably means..." I meant to say "usually means". He said if I only knew what it probably means, he'd just look it up. LOL!

Picking out paint colors, I asked my husband "do you like this probably aqua?" Lol...I meant pale aqua. "Probably" just seems to be the word my brain grabs when it can't find the right one. He said no biggie, he barely knows what aqua means anyway. Now we use "probably aqua" for anything unexplainable. May as well laugh about it.

OMG, this is sooo me. My word is "chicken". Lol, I know, don't ask me. When I can't find my word its always chicken. Where's my chicken? Keys. What happen to the chicken? Cat. Did you put the chicken in the refrigerator? Tea. Did you let the .... The .... .... Chicken outside? Dog. I guess it could have been a chicken.
This makes me feel better I never knew why I always said chicken. Lol, I still don't.

I guess it could be my really bad memory, but I just can not remember any thing funny about my word seeking, wrong word choices, using opposite words. Mostly mine are just sad, pathetic, but not funny.

I have a funny one via a MS doc from many years ago reporting to me that I had urine in my blood.

MY JAW DROPPED. I said I didn't realize that was even possible, but it must be quite serious when that happens. Of course he quickly corrected himself and we had a pretty good laugh about it.

The expression on my face alone must have made the embarrasement worth it for him.

These are all so funny and thanks for the laughs

So, I have 2 words that I simply can't pronounce nor spell for the life of me. One is empathize and the other is emphasize. I know what I want to say and what they mean, but it comes out like enthapize or empasize or any other weird combination. When I want to use those words it comes out like a total train wreck My tongue even sticks out trying to say them - I embarrass myself.

I have a total hang up with those words and had to ask dh "what are those two words I can't say anymore and how do you spell them?" just to write this!

            Does anyone enthapize with me?

Good thing I can laugh at myself, because Lord KNOWS I sure make a mess of many words.

Besides the stuttering and slurring words the only other thing that sticks out is ...

One day my hubby was cooking on the grill and my son came in and asked me what I wanted a cheeseburger, hotdog or chicken and I said 'burrito'??? Lol. Of course my son stood their like 'What???'

The funny part is I swore I said cheeseburger but I had a whole room of friends who said otherwise. What perfect timing on my part. At least they haven't seen me bounce off the walls ... yet ... lol.

I substitute words all the time but whenever a thread like this comes along, I mention the same story because it's my favorite.

I was eating a sandwich and made the "mmmm" yummy sound. My husband asked what was so good and I told him it was that new "penis butter" we just bought with jelly.

You should have seen the look on my husband's face.

Since it was edited for content, for those who haven't seen me post it before: the edited word is the proper clinical name for a male body part.

Thank you, Mrs. Bones. I just saw the edited "***", and was thinking that my brain wasn't working because I wasn't getting it. I assumed there was some commonly censored, three-letter word that was supposed to fit, but just couldn't figure it out with others' reactions.

Even though I've posted here using the term "boy parts" before for comedic effect, I would not expect a proper clinical term for any body part to be edited—especially on a site dedicated to people with a medical condition—in spite of the "G" rating.

I'm reminded of the documentary "This Movie is Not Yet Rated", as well as the many documentaries on the grand failure of abstinence-only (mis-)education. I guess you never know what some people will think is inappropriate for children. I'm certainly not one for teaching shame about our bodies, or the proper terms for their parts! What are we afraid is going to happen if our children are well-educated?

Okay, off my soapbox. I'll contribute to the topic of the thread.

Well, I wanted to contribute, but things aren't working out for me and my memory right now. Hopefully later, because I like this kind of thread! Thanks for starting it, jjs.

No problem. I'm not entirely sure why it was edited, as I have posted the exact story a few times before without it being edited. Oh, well.
