    Re-introducing myself

Wow...been so long since I've been on here, that I had to click on "acceptance of terms and conditions" before could continue to log in! So glad I didn't have to come up with a new username and password! Guess that's what I get for neglecting to check in for so long!

Yep, it's me. Same old Sherry with the same old MS symptoms, plus a few more maybe?? Don't know; it's been so LONG! Same house that I want to move out of b/c of the stairs, same loving (though sometimes oblivious - in a good way? ) hubby, same daughter w/ anxiety/OCD, and same son...but going thru puberty and middle school at the same time.

    It's been a LONG semester...
I'm not teaching, but I'm more worn out than if I was! I'm napping usually twice a day. My legs aren't doing well, lately so back isn't either. My hubby isn't home most evenings b/c he's teaching from around 12:30 - 7:00 (and then doing paperwork, planning, etc.). Therefore...I have both kids from the end of school to bedtime, most evenings. NOT fun... I need a vacation...all by myself!

Don't get me wrong; fun moments abound around here. My son has a great sense of humor (when he's not turning from Jekyll to Hyde), my daughter loves to cuddle and also can whip out a snappy comment that catches you off guard. Our dog, Alfred, thinks he's supposed to eat EVERY time we do...and never fails to let us know that (there really IS such a thing as sad puppy eyes; even when they are no longer puppies!).

Not only that, I am grateful that we have been spared from things like...flooding, wind damage to our house, etc. when our relatives to the east lost power from 'Sandy.' We didn't have to wait in long lines for hours to get gasoline. We had some of them come and stay with us for a bit.

So goes the ramblings of a woman awake in the wee hours...
    Hope I'm welcomed back.

I think you are welcome to contribute. If you follow the rules !! lol Your post is amazingly upbeat. Good for you!
I am curious about your screen name 'readingteacher'. Where does that come from ? Is that your former profession ? ( I know, it's more correct written as 'From where does that come ? )

      Hi Jerry!
Yes, I will do my very best to obey the rules.

As for my username, I am a reading specialist. Right now I'm on medical leave due to a flare in the summer. I work as an adjunct at the same local college where my dh works (though he teaches math).

I only feel comfortable teaching one class per semester; otherwise it takes too much of my time away from caring for my family. This current semester, I was supposed to teach a newer class, called FYE (First Year Experience). It would have been my first time teaching that course.

Normally, I teach a developmental reading course. It teaches some study skills (College Reading and Study Skills is the name of the course), but the FYE course spends more time on that subject.

Before I got married and had kids, I was an elementary school teacher with a brand new master's degree in Reading. I returned to my overseas school (a Christian school in S. Korea) and met my hubby there.

When I had my kids, I decided to stay home with them full-time. After moving to Pa and finding that they wouldn't even accept my current teacher's license b/c it was from out-of-state (really bugged me ), I let it expire. When my kids were in school full-time, I applied (with my hubby's encouragement) for the adjunct position.

Does that explain enough? I'm quite chatty, as you can see, so I could make this an even LONGER post....but won't.
Oh, and I don't correct grammar over the weekends, so don't worry about your "faux pas." It's the way I would have said it anyway!
      -Nice meeting you!
      Sherry
