can i use chat on my kindle

I usually read forums and type on my kindle. Much Moe comfortable for me but when I click on chat a big grey square with an x shows up in middle. Wondering if there is a way and what is needed to chat and of course if I can get that on my kindle hd. Thank you and have a great day!
