Serious Erectile Dysfunction

Received my MS confirmation in Feb 2011. Was not happy to learn that my ED is connected to my MS. Can anyone offer any insight now that the Levitra does nothing to help?
Thanks

Hey Notso,
Sorry you are going through this. I'm not officially Dx'd w/MS, but I do have ED on my list of MS like symptoms. My PCP prescribed Cialis and so far it has worked when I take it. You may want to talk to your doc about switching to a different med.

Prostaglandin for ED

I stopped using viagra and the other available oral meds for ED, but have been injecting prostaglandin now for several years, the injections are simple and painless, and the results are very predictable. I get it from a compounding pharmacy. Talk to your urologist.

I second this

I'm going to have to second the solution from a compounding pharmacy. I tried everything else and it didn't help, this works wonders. The only down side is that you will still have an erection after sex, you just have to wait it out.

I wouldn't say the injection is painless, just a little unpleasant. Small price to pay for feeling like a man again! Also, it's generic, so it's cheaper than any of the pills.

Cool About to Give Up

I have tried 3 or 4 ED meds, none of them are the, "wonder" drugs I hoped for.

I agree, that is a down side, the erection can last for several hours, kind of like being a teenager again. You can control this somewhat by adjusting/experimenting with the amount you inject.

I love to use the generic viagra

I know this drug has some bad impacts on the health, but i really love to use the generic drugs to get rid over the erectile dysfunction. You can get the more information regarding the male erectile dysfunction and its treatment on my bogs.

I'd love to hear more about this prostaglandin injection, if anyone cares to share some insights.. The name brand stuff hasn't been all that effect for me, and when it is, my heart rate is so high for hours after I feel like its gonna fly out of my chest..

My uro prescribed the injection for me several years ago. It has worked well. Start with small volume and work up if needed.

I use Caverject, the brand name version of prostaglandin. The cost is mostly covered by insurance. I use a handy little inject assist device that makes administering the meds easy and painless. Works every time and takes all of the will it work or won't it stress out of the mix.

Kyle
PS, unlike the original poster, I was relieved to find out why "it" wasn't working!

OK, I can't say this any clearer: Do not wait.

If pills are less than perfect, go with an injectable. I use TriMix, which is a compounded generic blend of three ED meds.

I'll make it easy for you... follow these steps today.

1) Make an appointment with a professional urologist who is familiar/comfortable with trimix prescriptions. I found mine by looking up urologists at a local large medical center. A quick look online showed me that the practice is familiar with ED, not only diseases such as prostate cancer, etc.
(Do not use one of those clinics that overcharges for ED solutions)
Tell him/her you want to try trimix.

Your doctor will see if it's right for you (no bleeding conditions, heart condition, etc).

2) The urologist will fill out a prescription for trimix which you'll need to have filled at a compounding pharmacy. If your urologist is already familiar with trimix, he/she will tell you where to go to find a compounding pharmacy. Mine was two minutes from the hospital, which makes sense.

The cost of trimix, even if you have to pay full price, is much more reasonable than pills and/or name brand options (depending on your insurance.)
In my case, 10cc of trimix cost just $95 including syringes and alcohol wipes. I use about 0.5cc each time, so that's 20 shots for $95. Five bucks a pop is well worth it.

Trimix needs to be refrigerated, so you'll use freezer packs to transport it. No big deal. Just do it so you don't ruin the product. At home, it goes in the fridge.

3) Your urologist will teach you how and where to inject yourself (it goes right into your penis) in his/her office, just to be sure you know what you are doing. There are videos online that show how, so you could study up before hand.

Nervous? Ashamed?
Get over it and concentrate on how great this is going to be.

It doesn't hurt. The needles are 31 gauge insulin needles, so you barely feel it. You're a lot rougher on yourself during sex. If you already inject a disease-modifying drug, this is no big deal.

4) Dosage will be suggested by your doctor. Listen to him/her. In my case, I tried 0.3 in the office and got hard within two minutes and it lasted about an hour.

With that drug injected in the little guy, it comes to attention within a minute or two and stays that way until it wears off (adjust your dose depending on how long you want to stay up).

He suggested 0.5 at home, and I found that 0.6 is probably closer to where I should be for longer sessions.

My doc said I could inject once a day, if desired.

Guys... don't wait to try trimix.

Your significant other will love you for it and wonder, too, why you waited.

Your cardio will give out before the little guy does.

If you aren't seeing a urologist, go find a good one now...

Your neurologist is not the only doctor you should be seeing.
