I filed for SSD online yesterday, signed the medical released virtually--completed all the online forms and submitted my claim. I assisted my brother-in-law two years ago, and there were forms he had to sign and mail in. Yesterday, I didn't "see" where I had to mail in anything. Because of my cognitive issues, I wonder if I missed something. I am sure the medical release was virtually signed and submitted as well as the applictication itself. Is this the way it is done now? Also, another woman said she had to mail her tax return with her application, so again, I fear I've missed something. Will the SSA be calling me soon?

I can't remember off the top of my head which documents but there are some that you have to print off, sign and mail in. If you go to the social security website where you filed the list of what to do is BEFORE the actual application. Social Security has never contacted me for anything so I would be proactive. A lot of claims are denied just for missing/incomplete information.

SSD Online
I did mine online and SS called me a couple days later and asked me a lot of questions...never had to go in...was approved several months later!! Did take me three phone calls to Neuro to get my file faxed to SS. All in all, a good experience.

Hi, tired_teacher. I know that SSA was going to the virtual medical releases, when previously they required an original document. Still, I thought that SSA would send an application form for one to sign and return. I will check on this and get back to you.
