    Baclofen timeframe

I just started Baclofen today. About how long will it take for me to see some improvement, provided I see any at all?

    Thanks

It's hard to really say. I take between 80 and 100mg throughout the day, and really notice little difference in my spasticity. I always say I feel like I'm popping Pez candy.

I hope you get some more responses! I'm sure my response to the drug is not the norm...

      Jazz,

That's the way it was with me with my legs, pre pump. I was popping it and nothing was happening, still couldn't pick my foot off the floor, or put my right foot in front of my left. My legs just didn't respond to the oral med...but fortunately they did to the intrathecal drug.

      Paula,

As I mentioned in my reply to Jazz, I didn't have much luck with it with my legs...but I recently started back on a small dose due to increased spasticity in my shoulder. And I am getting relief. I seem to get relief pretty quickly once I take a pill. Maybe an hour and I notice the spasticity starts to ease.

If you aren't seeing results, maybe you need to ask the neuro to up the dosage. The negative thing for me about the higher dosage I used to be on for my legs was
      1. It didn't help much
      2. It made me really sleepy.

Here's hoping it works for you...it does for many people.

When I first went on baclofen, it worked good then the effectiveness started to slow down. My neuro increased my dose 2 months ago and its working great still. It takes about 2 hours for it to really kick in, but when it does the relief I feel was well worth the wait.

          Baclofen for my use

Hey Ron, I use 20mg of Baclofen 4 times a day and I still can't stand up, the other day I was so wobbly I couldn't walk from the couch to the front door and I've been on this stuff forever, my Neuro is finally sending me to some other specialist to see what they can figure out what's causing my problem . I have been suffering with this stuff for years now and I also have a Cervical Syrinx in my Spinal Cord and they keep telling me that it's too small to operate on and I have so much pressure in my head and it feels like it's gonna blow off, it just gets on my nerves so bad I can't stand it, I hope it works for you SOON!!

It does take sometimes up to a week to kick in. I take 100mg.3 X's a day plus 100mg.Neurontin 3X's aday. It does help.

              This is from WebMD...

It may take 1-2 months or longer to get the full benefit from this medication. Inform your doctor if your condition does not improve or if it worsens.

Thanks. I'll give it some time.
