Just started Gilenya...what do you think?

Hey everyone! I did Betaseron for about 2 years, the first med since I was dx'd and could not physically/mentally handle the shots anymore. My neuro and I decided on Gilenya and today is day 3.

I THINK I feel all right, and I'm not sorry that I switched, I was just hoping to get some more feedback from everyone. I've read all the forums and I saw that others have just started it. I'm feeling better mentally since I'm not doing the shots anymore, I guess just worried I will have a set back...

Anywho thanks a lot for any feedback!

Been on it since June 2012. Am now at a every third day dose due to low WBC and will get a blood panel each month. Side effects have been the low WBC and some hair loss- hard to see each day on the floor of the shower. Other than that- nothing and it is light years easier than copaxone- no itching, no bumps, no pain. I can actually forget about MS at times.

      1 week down

Like you, I was on several shots before finally getting to Gilenya. I love the fact that I don't have to inject myself constantly and be constantly reminded that I have MS.

After one week on Gilenya, I am still having a lot of body aches and the fatigue is out of this world. I even have sporadic headaches throughout the day.

I'm really hoping all of this goes away in time. My MS Specialist and his NP have both told me that their patients do very well on Gilenya.

          Hi Dreamer,

There are a few steps you'll need to take if you'd like e-mail notifications in regards to any of your posts. You can read about how to do that here:

Thanks for your update, and sorry to hear you've developed slight macular edema since you've started Gilenya. I hope that is being closely followed by your doctors and won't ever progress.

          Best of luck to you!
