    Arm Numbness

A few weeks ago I was having a lot of trouble with numbness in my right foot and tingling in my fingertips. Those have both subsided some. In the last few days, however, both arms have started feeling numb regardless of what I am doing, needlepoint, typing, reading, driving etc...

Since I'm not going to get in to see the MS Specialist until July 1st, I was wondering if there is any tips or tricks I can do in the meantime to wake my arms up. I've tried telling them can't sleep until I do, but like the rest of my body, they are ignoring me and doing what they want anyway

Thanks in advance for any ideas!

I wish I could be of some help but when I get pins, needles and numbness they come and go as they please.

Hopefully someone else can be of some assistance because I would be interested in the answer as well.

    Good luck!

Also, what other dx are they looking at for you currently? Just curious because I believe having a seizure would possibly put you in a different dx than ms ... correct me if I'm wrong.

What other symptoms are you having?

Loathe to tell you, but there ain't nothing you can do about it. It will either go away, or it won't. And by 'nothing', I mean nothing, at all.

Chances are if it's early days/ years it will go away. Or not. My numb little finger, first sign, 15 years ago, is still numb.

        Brittan,

They found nothing in all the epilepsy tests they ran for the seizure, which began with a period of split second blackouts. I've been having the blackouts for several years. I had an uncle and have a son with epilepsy so they were pretty thorough with the testing. As of right now, it is unknown what caused it.

Earlier this year I started having trouble with my peroneal tendons on both feet, I am still wearing a brace on the right one, which has not improved.

In addition, over the last few months I have been dealing with difficulty swallowing, tingling in fingers, numbness in toes, legs (rare) and now my arms.

Since the MS possibility had shown up before, in 2006, my PCP went ahead and ordered MRI's of the brain so they would be done before my MS Specialist appointment on 7/1. The results were:

"Interval increase in size and number of white matter abnormalities. Differential diagnoses include small vessel ischemic disease, migraine and not totally excluded multiple sclerosis. "

          hi

An effective isometric exercise for your hands and arms is to clench your fist tightly with the bottom of the clenched fist facing upwards. Use your other hand to force your fist down, pushing up at the same time with the clenched fist. Repeat the exercise but do it with the clenched fist facing down this time. Repeat each step 5 times and on each hand. I have heard it helps in numbness.
