Support group

Im afraid to go anywhere right now because I just finished steroids. Last time I went somewhere right after, I got terribly sick. They told me to try to stay in for about a week this time if at all possible to prevent it. I just finished them yesterday. I hate that I havent been able to go the past two months.

New to the Houston Area

Hello All,

I recently relocated to The Woodlands, Tx with my company, I am from Ca. I need help with finding a new doctor and meeting people in the area. What is the support group that you all are speaking about? How can I get involved?

Group

The support group we go to is in clear lake which would be around an hour away, but is a very positive group if you could make it. Ive heard a lot of them are debbie downer groups and make you want to blow your brains out when you leave. You really feel like a family at this one though. I will try to find the information and inbox you.

I was seeing Dr. Loftus which I loved, but due to possible insurance changes and a chance to go to the "man" in houston, Dr Hutton, I have now switched to him. Dr. Loftus is in Bellaire and Dr. Hutton is in the medical center. I'm not sure of any in the woodlands. I would recommend either of those.

Welcome to TX Sarawarden!

Here is a list of local support groups: http://www.nationalmssociety.org/cha...ups/index.aspx

Like Mynamegoeshere said, you're welcome in Clear Lake. It is a very supportive group of people, no whining, just support & sharing information. I'm not as active in the group as I'd like to be, nor do I attend as often as I'd like to.

Speaking of, our meeting is this Saturday - Mynamegoeshere will you be able to attend this month?

Meeting

We are going out of town, but I'm going to see if we can go from there . I haven't been in so long and it really helps me.

THANKS!

Thank you so much for the inforamtion! I really appreciate it! I have not had much luck finding any good reccomendations on this type of stuff because I am new to the area and so are all of my co-workers (our whole office relocated here).

Mynamegoeshere1 - Thank you for the inforamation on the doctors! I will put in a couple of calls. I had a really great doctor in Ca and I hope that I can find someone again that I will be happy with.

Toomnyhats- Thank you for the details on the support group. I might come to one in the next month or so. I have never been to a support group and being new to the area I think that it would help me make some local connections.

Meeting

Toomnyhats,

We will be at the meeting, yay . My husband said we can head out of town after. His father is having surgery Monday. This has been one hell of a month. I might need a therapist!

1. Father found out he had cancer
2. Went with him to first appt and had a relapse from holding in all the stress to stay strong for him.
3. Cousin (more love nephew) drowned and brought back to life and was not supposed to make it but just moved to rehab today.
4. Dads cancer surgery....first dr said no ripush, not aggressive, dr. That performed surgery said was VERY aggressive and lucky we caught it when we did.
5. Now father in law having surgery.
6. Having MS mobility issues I'm hoping just from all of the stress lately and now I'm off Betaseron to start Tysabri, and last time I went without, I had a HORRIBLE relapse.

Geez, I sound like a 1 ring circus!
