Gomer's SC claim update May 18 '12

Got the call this am for first round of P&C exams, I presume there will be more to come.

I ended up filling my claim on my own
via the web site. I got tired of waiting for PVA to do any little thing for nearly 2 years. I had to light FIRE to get PVA on-board, to do even half what the local PVA rep was eager to do for a misfit w/earned DIShonorable discharge. I was so furious I wrote BOTH of my Senators, one responded, the other who knows?

My non-VA eye doc is on board and so is my MS specialist I see at the VA.

BONUS...My P&C (eye clinic only) is next Thursday, SAME day as my renal clinic. Normally I do not get mileage, but since I will also have a P&C related clinic as well, I will get travel pay for a change (puntended)

Just remember, you is who you is.

Meaning, be yourself and let the doc do the work. They aren't in a hurry to meet you, they just want to run some tests and see how your body responds.

Bring a list of stuff, but only as an option in case they ask.

If a test is ticking you off, explain that its just frustration that you can't do something. If the doc thinks you're ticked at them, they will respond in kind.

I'm pulling for you, Gomer. Remember, all honey no vinegar.

Best of Luck, Gomer

Remember, if and when thet ask you how you are...it is not the greeting of the day...you are not fine or okay because you wouldn't be there if you were fine or ok. I have heard they will use that against you, if you say fine or ok. Tell it like it is, be nice to the doc and good luck.

correct if i am wrong, your earlier post seems like you are proud of your dishonorable discharge? if so why do you even bother going to the VA? just asking i probably even shouldnt ask, but i never have been one to be pc.. its a wonder i have been able to stay on this forum, probably cause when i do post i am just to tired to formulate my words and i do need to respect the sites policies even though i may not agree with some, but i am in there house so i do respect, that is a big thing i learned from both my parents and the service

lovejoy....

Here is what I was talking about;

After well over a year of the Ann Arbor Michigan PVA rep of doing NOTHING she claimed she would, I made a trip and stopped in to see her and politely REVOKE my POA with the PVA. She was out of her office and I had to wait over an hour for her to return.

While sitting there waiting, there were two others also waiting. One was a young man there BRAGGING how he earned his DD with pride. It about turned my stomach that ANY-one would be proud of what he did to get kicked out. He was just looking to avoid buying health insurance and not for any specific problems SC or not.

When the PVA rep returned to her office and I entered, I was polite and told her I wanted to revoke my POA with PVA. She asked me "WHY?" (an obvious & reasonable question).

When I started pointing out that she had not done anything she had told me she would, she went BALASTIC!

I later I had to stop at a neighboring office (unrelated) she was so nice and polite, and eagerly helping the same misfit get his discharge changed so he could use the VA.

I do not object to PVA or others, helping anyone; however I EARNED my HONORABLE discharge and feel I should never ever have to take a BACKseat to any misfit (or coward?) that worked for and got a deserved DD. (I got the impression from him he did what he did was to avoid going overseas to the middle east).

SOMETHING was very wrong with the whole scene. What happened to me should never have happened. I did file a complaint, not that it would do any good. Another PVA rep has taken over my case, but I do have to prod him to do much.

No tests of any kind yet.

I do have a P&C related optical apt coming up. There may be others before the fat lady sings.

Well had my C&P exam last Thursday, along with other Labs, MRI & renal clinic apts.

The C&P exam seemed to go well. She did testing and asked questions etc, some not even related to vision issues. She did not say, nor did I ask, however she seemed to be leaning in my favor for svc con.

With the VA ya just never ever know. I am not going to hold my breath either way till I hear more or get feed back. I do feel good about the exam & how it went.

MRI was for my next MS clinic and the labs were for renal clinic. The renal clinic doc was even better than the doc I had the last time. It was a long hard day, gave my scooter a good work out as well.
