WII EXERCISE & CHECKIN GROUP 5/10/2012

WOOHOO!!!
SUNNY DAYS AND SPRING WEATHER HAS SPRUNG US INTO ACTION!

I DON'T KNOW ABOUT YOUR MAY FLOWERS, BUT YOU'RE LOOKING GOOD WITH ALL THIS EXERCISE ACTIVITY!

GOALS MADE:
SEVEN AND A HALF
GOALS MISSED:
ONE AND A HALF

Sparky, getting in your outside exercise is great! thanks for the compliments on the fit tips. i try my best, m'am!

Red, you're doing good, listening to your body is a good thing. missing barely, is practically making it!

Mermaid, glad to hear that the exercise is helping you recover from all the surgery.

Shrink, totally agree with you about time. it flies by faster all the time! sometimes i feel like all i do is exercise, eat, read, maybe a chore like dishes, eat, nap, eat w/ DH and relax awhile w/ him, then sleep again.

Seasha, Hunterd, MSSINCE09, Casino, keep it up!! you all are doing fantastic!!!

me, i gave myself some wiggle room on my goal this week with doing IV solumedrol. just now did 8 mins on wii, my goal is 15 mins. 5 days. some days were over and some days a little less. but i gave myself credit for rolling myself through the hospital everyday this week, 1 more tomorrow.
I LOVE MY NEW TI w/c. it's fun to use and i can't load and unload it myself!

TIPS FOR THE DAY:

Ways to Flatten Your Belly by Summer
By*The Editors of Prevention*|*Healthy Living*–

Fry Fat With The Boat Move*
Target your deepest ab muscles with The Boat: Lie face up on a mat with arms straight up over chest. Lift your upper body off the ground by rolling through the spine. At the same time, raise your legs so that you're balancing on your butt, knees bent and shins parallel to the ground. Slowly roll back down onto the mat, lowering legs. That's 1 rep. Do 5 reps per set, resting 30 to 60 seconds between sets.*

Play Catch*
Get into a crunch position-lie on your back, knees bent, feet flat on the floor, shoulders and head off the floor with your abs contracted. Then have someone throw an exercise ball (or basketball) to you-first to your left side so you have to twist and reach to catch it, and then to your right. Do this as many times as is comfortable, and try to increase the number each week.*
Wii Sports has a simulated game where in boxing the 'coach' throws balls at you that you either dodge or hit with your gloves. Though wouldn't have the weight component, but if you're like me it'll save on breakage.

Skip Your Daily Soda Habit*
Where do you think all those bubbles from carbonated drinks end up? They gang up in your belly! Swap soda, diet soda, and seltzer for Sassy Water, a Flat Belly Diet staple beverage.*Get the Sassy Water recipe here.

I couldn't click and get the recipe, but I do have it from years ago. I have been drinking it this week to combat IV roids nausea and dehydration and I've actually lost a little weight this week.
I'll give you my version as to not infringe on copyright. Feel free to google it though.
*2 liters of water- put all ingredients in the jug before topping off with water.
*2- 3 lemons, washed, sliced thin, add to water jug
*ginger root- the real thing in produce, not spice. I remove the skin where I grate 1 tablespoon into water jug.
*cinnamon- i sprinkle about tsp into it. more if you like
*mint- didn't grow any this year so i substituted minty decaf tea bags. boiled 2, cooled, put in water jug.
*cucumber- sliced thin, added to jug. this time i didn't use cucumber because i didn't want the, ummm, burps. it's good with or without and in the amount you decide.

To finish- fill jug rest of way with water. Best if refrigerated overnight for flavor to blend. As mine get low, i keep adding more mint tea, lemon and ginger since you may drink some of the ginger. I do that for about a week then start over with fresh again.

Enjoy!

Take care and God bless ya!

Hello all,
I know it has been a while since I checked in. I have been keeping up with my exercise - although my goal has changed a little from week to week.

I find I do soooo much better when the sun shines.

Has been awhile since I checked in too.

Average steps per day: 5020 steps
Did Wii Fit one time this week.

Not setting a goal, because I'm not willing to commit to one.

Appreciated your carbonated drink tip. My consumption of Diet Dr Pepper has gone back up. Maybe that's why, even when my weight hasn't increased, that my belly has. Perhaps I need to cut back again.

Hi Everyone. I made may goal and then some this week. I did full exercise routine 4 days, marched in place twice per day for 20 minutes seven days and lifted weights seven days. Whew. No wonder I have no time.

I'll set my goal the same this week: three days of full exercise routine; six days of marching in place 20 minutes twice per day and lifting weights six days. Pooh, I wish we could figure out how to extend time. Thanks for your good exercise tips. Blessings, Karen

Good job, everyone! I also made my goal and then some. Only had time for a couple walks cuz it's gardening time full on! LOVE getting back in the dirt - lol.

We are having out of state company for a week, so cleaning my house was also full on (not nearly as much fun). We'll have 4 extra people plus rest of family living close by - I have been cooking ahead of time

Wish me luck - usually company wears me out more than preparing for them!

Glad to hear from you, newme! Hope everyone has a healthy week~

This week I missed goal by one day. I really don't have any good excuses other than to say I just missed it or forgot about it.

GREAT JOB EVERYONE!

Made my goal of exercising in the pool everyday this week. I added some extra pool time most days, too. The result? Happy, wet, and tired. I'm good with that.

Stay lifted,
Mermaid
