WII EXERCISE & CHECKIN GROUP 5/03/2012

HAPPY CINCO DE MAYO!!!
YES, I KNOW CINCO IS FIVE BUT I'M STARTING EARLY!!!

ANOTHER GOOD WEEK!
HOPE EVERYTHING IS OKAY WITH THOSE WHO DIDN'T CHECK IN

GOALS MADE:
SEVEN
GOALS MISSED:
ONE good for you for 'fessing up, it's good for the soul!

TIP FOR THE DAY:
Flatten Your Belly by Summer
By*The Editors of Prevention*|*Healthy Living*–*Mon, 4/9/12

Try Out Spidey Moves*
Eliminate spillover spots with the Spiderman Climber: Get into plank position with arms and legs extended, hands beneath shoulders, and feet flexed. Keeping your abs tight, bend your left leg out to the side and bring the knee toward the left elbow. Pause, then return to start. Switch sides. Do 20 reps, alternating sides, with 30 minutes of cardio 5 to 6 times a week.*(Of course, modify as you need to, don't push too far over and lessen reps and time.)

Do the Windshield Wiper.*
Lie face up with arms out to your sides, palms down, and legs bent at 90 degrees so feet are off the floor. Keep abs tight and slowly lower legs to the left as far as possible, keeping shoulders on the floor. Pause, then return to start. Repeat to the right. Do 20 reps, alternating sides.*

Clean Your House*
One more reason to start your spring-cleaning: Vacuuming is a great ab workout. Tighten your abdominal muscles while you
push back and forth for a tighter tummy while you clean.*
(I assume the same runs true for a mop, it wouldn't work too well with a broom- you wouldn't get anything clean!)

So we are now skinny spiders with clean windshields and house!
Hope these help! Even more fun ones coming next week!

Take care and God bless ya!

Good tips, Pooh! I think I'll try these as I'd like to be able to wear my jeans comfortably again -lol. oh~~ the belly flab~~

Made my goal (6 out of 7 days) by walking, walking, yoga and starting my veggie planting in my gardens - finally!! I have been trying to do the marching in place while dinner's cooking. (thanks Shrink for the idea) It feels so good to get those stiff knees moving. I realize with spasticity, I walk stiff legged and don't bend my knees as much as I should!

Hope everyone is healthy and moving!

Excited about a new goal

Made my goal this week. My working with extra effort and consciousness in the water workouts is starting to feel really good. I can sense that my scar tissue is breaking up.

I found a great wilderness cabin for a vacation in the Wisconsin Northwoods this summer. Therefore, I am planning to concentrate on increasing my walking range with my tall cane as much as I can in the next few weeks.

Pooh, those spider/wiper exercises sound like scary fun. I will try.

Stay lifted,
Mermaid

I missed a day

I had to get some test done on one of my workout days.--I know I could have changed my day to workout but I find I do better if I workout every other day and when I try to make up for missing a day thats when I start to miss more days.

thanks for the tips Pooh.... you know we would love to have a flat tummy by summer

Hi everyone. I made my goal and then some. Yay. I did my full exercise routine 4 times, marched in place 40 minutes a day for six days and did weight lifting six days. I will set my goal this week per usual: Full exercise routine 3 times; marching in place 20 minutes twice per day for six days and weight lifting for six days.

Is anyone else having the same problem I am which is time. It takes me about two hours to do all the exercises. I find I have virtually no time for anything except eating, sleeping exercising and reading the news of the day. There has to be more to life!

Made goal plus extra. I was over 35 min. The nice weather is certainly helping things out. It is allowing me extra exercise time.

GREAT JOB EVERYONE!!!

Congrats to all!

Hello everyone. I am so glad to hear that everyone has met almost, all or went over their goals! This week I was able to walk up and down the stairs for 15 mins straight each day.

I am bored with this and feeling a little better now that I am fully over my flare. So I am going to start doing these full body sculpting workouts that I found on our local cable channel. They are about 25 mins long including warm up and cool down.

Right after I had my baby (almost 19 years ago! picture tears falling) I did these same work outs and felt good and lost alot of weight and toned.

I did the first one this morning and was able to do most of the exercises some in modified version, and the ones I just couldnt do I marched in place.

Goal for next week: make sure to check in on time LOL, do the above video work out at least 3 times this week. Also I am all for the cleaning work out. I sweat more when I clean than when I do most anything else. and ......... if I find a boston terrier I am going to start doing 15 min walks everyday. Wish me luck. I really need a puppy!

Take care all!

Exercise is good for health and fitness. And, exercise can speed up weight loss. But, I lost weight with almost no exercise. I lost about 60 pounds in a year, and have maintained that weight loss for 6 months, and even dropped an additional 3 or 4 pounds since then. I went from a size 22 to a size 6.

I don't want to discourage exercise, especially on a thread that is specifically geared to exercise. It's a great thing.

But, I also don't want to discourage members who wish to lose weight and either cannot exercise, due to health, or, are just not willing to exercise because they don't want to.

You can lose weight without exercise.
