Needed: An Appetite

I was dxed in 2008/2009, been on Rebif since.

I first noted an appetite change when my life turned stress free. I had been on Rebif for 2years and Pristiq for about a year and half at that point. One my life calmed down a bit and I got comfy again, I started getting crazy with the glutens and sugars, I would literally gorge on pasta and cookies, often...yet I wouldnt ever gain a pound...never really lost much weight either.

It was at that point that fate directed me towards an internist and the choice to become Gluten Free. To make a long story short, I love it and have been dedicated since July 2011.

My question is...I still no longer have an appetite for things..for anything at all. I miss my appetite! What do I do?

Is it the Pristiq? I am in the process of "getting clean" in hopes to become pregnant come summertime but if I dont get this appetite back, its going to give me something bigger to worry about. :/ I hope that itll help me eat.

Anyone have issues with appetite? Anyone know if its cuz MS or if its Pristiq? Can vitamins satisfy appetite? I dont eat them by themselves..but even still. I will say..Im taking great shape for spring..but I am a little thing and cant afford to lose too much more.

I have the same problem. I find that I have to eat small amounts during the day to make sure I'm hungry for my big evening meal. Also, I can't overeat or my stomach and abdomen will hurt for hours.

I try to drink a little wine before supper and that helps with my appetite. You may want to have your thyroid checked. When I am off of my thyroid meds, my appetite goes to zero.

Exercise also helps. Good luck!

Hey LammyCat- 5 months ago, I stopped all carbs/ dairy/ sugar... basically everything delicious.
Also- I'm recently dx and haven't started anything yet- I don't take any medications at all. I'm never hungry! Maybe something about the diet??

I noticed I had no appetite after being on Neurontin for six weeks. I also don't feel full after eating. Wonder if this is because it's a suppressant?

You can have my appetite. I don't need it anymore. I'm trying to lose weight.

Nuts!

I have a gallon size ziplock with me at all time lol. I fill it with different nuts and nut and berry mixes. Its the only thing I can do when I know I NEED to eat. I am so sick of being sick.

Thanks so much for all the feedback!

"Needed: An appetite"
You can have mine if you want! My meds seem to have the opposite effect on me. Just gopes to show everyone's mS is different. I do hope you can get comfortable with eating again, you need food for energy!

I'd ask my doctor to make sure.

But if you do want to get hungry, get some medicinal marajuana.

I eat but don't have a big appetite either, but continue to gain weight. Haven't gained any in about three months but still 2 sizes larger than I was two years ago before MS was dx. I barely have the energy it takes to work all day and know I need to exercise, but I do not have the energy nor the will power. Hopefully I will get better and body will not need the rest I feel I need now! It's just about all I can do to work and keep my job! I hate it!

Appetite stimulants

You can talk to your doctor about an appetite stimulant.
They definitely work.
