Outback I think?? is offering a free bloomin onion, I guess with paid meal.

Applebee's is advertising even better deal. Free meal (not including tip and beverage) with a chioice of 7oz serloin meal, bacon cheese burger, chicken tenders and several other options. You will NEED to show some for of proof of service or active duty. Examples include military ID card, Vet org card (MOPH, PVA, VFW etc), photograph in uniform, dd214 etc.

I plan to use my VA card with photo.

I am planning on a shopping trip that day since my wife is off work.

I expect there are other deals out there as well. If you know of any, please add them, or any correctins to my post, in you replies for otehr vets to see.

You might want to check out any vet deals by checking their webistes for details etc.

My daughter works at Golden Corral and they do not require any proof at hers, just say you are a veteran, but come early she says they line up out the door and have to wait to get it.

Also note the Lowes provides th 10% discount all year round as long as you have an active duty or retired ID card, they will also accept a VA hospital ID card, just saved my daughter about $100 for materials for a small room remodel.
Apparently the man who started Lowes was a Korean Vet and he made the agreement when he sold the business that they would continue to offer the discount as he had.

WoW......!....

randys438 What a Super Fantastic list

THANKS!

I WISH I had known about Lowes long ago.

We do not have a Golden Corral here, but there probably is one where we are going or along the way. My wife has never been to a Golden Coral, might be a good time to take her.

I Loe Krisspy Kreeme might see if there is one enroute or where we are going.

Sam Club..C U tomorrow after my Dr apt... Those Hugo canes are nice. My Cristal has a crack but I still use it. Would not hurt to have a spare, since I never leave home w/o a cane.

I applied to PVA, just have not rec'd my PVA card yet. My PVA rep said my membership is taken care of, other than getting the actual membership card.

I have a VA health care card with my mug shot and notes I am service connected below my mug...lol. I expect that should do fine.

Thanks again Randy for the comprehensive list. (Where in cyberspace did you find it?)

Today things have CHANGED, it's a far cry from the public attitudes from the early 70s. Back then if you admitted to be a vet, we were often (not always) treated like bad dogs or looked down upon. At work people usually already knew if you were a vet.

I was looking at the golden corral website, looking to see if there was at or enroute to our shopping destination.

There it reads; Military Appreciation Monday
Free "Thank You" Dinner
Monday, Nov. 15, 2010
5pm - 9pm

http://goldencorral.com/military/

So NOTE its NOT on veterans day! You can follow the link and read more about it.

I got the list in an e-mail from one of the members of my Subvets unit.

I also attended a free veteran's lunch at a local senior housing complex on Monday.

My Subvets unit is marching in our local Veteran's Day parade tomorrow and going as a group to Applebee's after the parade

This isn't a meal deal...but a free haircut. This might be a south Florida only event, but it'd be worth a call to your local Aveda salon to save some $$$ if you need a haircut (they do men and women's cuts.) Here's the notice I saw it on facebook:
http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?pi...d=116402214923

In honor of Veteran’s Day, we want to thank all our servicemen and servicewomen with a FREE Haircut this Thursday, November 11th. Call 877-283-3235 to book your appointment and use code THNXCUT. Remember, you must present your military identification at checkout. Again, THANK YOU for all you do!!

Here's the location finder for the salons:

Turnout was pretty good (more like mobbed). Also got a 10% off coupon so I bought my turkey now to get it over with.

I THINK. Sam's club is still giving FREE HUGO folding canes to vets yet tomorrow, started Nov 10 and I think it runs till Nov. 12 (fri) IF they still have suplies let. (Mine came is a special Vets package.)

I hit Sam's for mine yesterday.

You do NOT have to be a Sam's Club member, if my cogfoc is clear on that.

My daughter told me that the Golden Corral where she works gave over 600 free meals last night and raised approx 4,000 for the VA hospital over the last week thru a purple heart association.
