    Left Leg

Any body want a left leg?

The leg is driving me crazy. It is either has spasms or it tucks itself under the right leg and I have to wait for hubby to pull it out Did I mention I bed bound or on weekends I'm in my recliner

Last Friday is was time for hubby to move me out to my recliner, He brought the power chair in the bedroom and of course stubborn me didn't listen. The left leg was tucked up under the right hubby can usually pull me over to the power chair with it tucked then straighten it out But no I had to have it straight lost my sock and the left leg started the spasms. I have cuts all over the leg all bandaged up

Last night I was up all night with leg spasms and this morning spasms and tucking So frustrating

    Just needed to vent.

By the way I take 80mgs of Baclofen and a pain pill neither seems to help I was tested for the Baclofen pump failed the test and other spasms pills No I don't see a dr, not since the last dr told me he has no mediations to help me and he is not the first dr to tell me that

Thank you if anybody read my posts

Hello Shoo, I wish I had some suggestions that would help. My left leg is very weak and have foot drop and I also have spasms in my ankle but nothing like you are going thru. Just wanted to say I'm sorry and I hope you get some relief soon.

I have had major painful, spasms, my doctor prescribed keppra and it seems to help. I hope that you seek out treatment, I would be concerned of my leg staying in that position. I would definitely seek another opinion.

I will pray for this to get better. It amazes me, how our bodies can turn on us… I'm glad that you and your husband have each other.

Are you in physical therapy to try to keep your left leg muscles stretched out and try to prevent your leg from contracting permanently into that position?

Oral medications (at least the ones your doctors have tried) and a baclofen pump might not have worked for you, but have you tried Botox injections? Are you willing to try Botox? It loses its effectiveness after awhile -- I'm not referring here to it wearing off after a few months and the injections having to be repeated; I'm referring to the antibodies that form and make Botox ineffective over time -- but if you haven't already tried it, it might give you some spasticity relief over the next year or so.

There are also surgical options for spasticity.

How many neurological subspecialists have you consulted? Have you seen only or mostly MS neuros, or have you been evaluated by specialists in cerebral palsy, spinal cord injury, traumatic brain injury and stroke, whose patients also experience severe spasticity? A different subspecialist might be able to offer you options MS neurologists haven't presented to you.

          Thank-you for your replies, Tia1 and Reg53

jregan7o No I haven't seen any other drs. The only way` for me to get out of the house is by ambulance which takes me to the hospital and I made a resolution this yr no hospital or nursing homes

I had pt last Sept when I came home from the nursing home and it did help but then that stopped insurance and with so much to do hubby couldn't help me every day Hubby is back to work and my neighbor comes over at lunch and I will ask her to help exercise the legs I really would like to find someone to come to the house who does massage. Massage helped a lot but that was four or five yrs ago

I was just down in the dumps yesterday and I shouldn't been complaining there are people who have it a lot worst then me

Thank you for all your suggestions

You're right, there is always someone worse off, but that doesn't mean you're not allowed to vent.

Sounds like the massage helped before.
All my best to you and your husband.

If you could get to the doctor one time, so that they could set up Pt in your home. Please don't give up trying to get some relief.

Expressing yourself, sharing your experience and even trying to make things better is absolutely okay to do, especially here, we all understand! Vent away, you still get to appreciate all thats good in your life. One doesn't cancel out the other.

              How are you feeling today?

Have you tried botox? Jreagan had some great suggestions.

                Thank you everyone

Yesterday when my neighbor came over at lunch time to get my lunch and help me with other things and to let the dog out, I explained to her how the pt lady exercised my legs and she was not as good as pt but it helped a little

I'm not giving up we will keep exercising every day and over time the legs might improve
