100% of people with MS have had a neck injury at some time in their lives

Has anyone heard that? I read it from an MS specialist in Boise Idaho.

I did indeed have a neck injury but 100% seems like an exaggeration. Has anyone else had a neck injury?

    Yup.

In fact it made the diagnostic process that much more tedious because it was so bad, I had emergent surgery. I had two discs that burst into the cord canal smashing the cord and leaving lesions on the cord C4-C6.

In fact the lesions that remain there are what has been the difference between a solid diagnosis and a probable one according to the McDonald criteria. Right now although I meet the lesion load in the brain, the spinal cord lesions cannot be counted because of the lesions from the disc bursting.

    It sucks that for sure.

No, I never had a neck injury. Hadn't heard this one before.

If there was any real truth to this, I think the dots would've been connected a long time ago.

No neck injury here either. I have never heard that before either.

          Neck Injury and MS

Well that is a new theory to me. Never once have I heard that there is any correlation between a diagnosis of MS and a neck injury. I have never had a neck injury and was diagnosed with MS about 10 years ago. Sounds like a load of horse manure to me.

              None here either.

Trust me... Idaho is not the right place to find a MS-specialized neuro. Even in the capital.

                No neck injury.

Part of my diagnostic testing consisted of several x-rays of my neck as well as having a Myelogram.

I, just like many others, have had no neck injuries, and I have never heard that before.

I have never heard that before but I have had problems with C4 and C5 for many years . I will ask the neurosurgeon this when I consult with him, next month ! Always something new to learn !

No neck injury here either, nor any indication of an old injury from my xrays or MRIs.

I would have responded 100% of all MS patients were born at some point in time. They all have a detectable blood pressure and pulse rate. And like neurologists, most MS patients have a detectable level of brain activity ... MOST!

I love all of your responses. When I read it , it seemed ridiculous. It's also very reassuring that most of you have been spared a neck injury.

                            Whenever I hear 100%, I think, "w h a t?" Nothing about MS is 100%.

                              Yep

Neck injury almost three years to the day before my first relapse.
