If you've ever been off Tecfidera for several days and then went back on ...

what were your side effects like when you re-started?

Despite my best efforts, I just ended up off Tec for about several days (and was at half-doses several days before that trying to stretch it out) while waiting for my new insurance to get their act together. (My drs' office gave my insurance too much credit and didn't want to call in the Rx to US Bioservices for my complimentary dose. :/ )

Anyhow, I know it only stays in your system 24 hrs but I had several months of side effects when I first started it. Been back on 24 hrs now and have had two intense flushing episodes and now bad GI pain. Anyone else have this experience and how did the side effects last? I know and have been following all the usual tips to minimize the side effects.
2001: 1st 2 relapses, "probable MS." 2007: 3rd relapse. Dx of RRMS confirmed by MS specialist. Started Cpx. (Off Cpx Feb 08-Mar 09 to start a family; twins!) Dec '09: Started Beta. Oct '13: Started Tecfidera. May '15: Considering Gilenya.

I thought if you stopped taking tecfidera you would have to start up with the 120 mg 2x daily for 7 days and then up the dose to 240 mg 2X daily there after. I was wondering if this protocol is always recommended for any amount of time that the medication was discontinued. Does anyone know the answer to this?

Thankfully I am covered through the Veterans for all meds, I can't imagine having to fight with insurance and the obscene costs of our meds. I have done the same, either missed for a couple days or when I was thinking about coming off because of worsening liver panels every month. And iron levels that are supposed to be 20, at a 5. I was off only for a week that time but had to go through all the pain and flushing again, thankfully by the second day it was more or less gone, slight pain in GI but nothing like starting over again. And it didnt last a month or more like in the beginning. I hope you have gotten through the pain and flushing ok, the pain in the butt insurance.
