Went to Ophthalmologist today. Not good!

Besides having more macular problems (which I was referred to my retina specialist - so another appt. that I can't get to - lack of ride), my vision had changed drastically. I need a new glasses/contact prescription of a power double what it was last appt. 6 months ago!!! but still not getting me to see better than 20/60. I had felt that my vision had changed and wasn't good but I didn't know it was that drastic!
What might cause that? Last MS drug as Rebif but that was back in August and I wasn't on it for long and having to stop. Then September I was on the IV solu-medrol for 4 days of 1 gram a day; then the next month 30 days of mega prednisone pills. Other than that nothing had changed.
what are you thoughts? Really upset and scared.

Hi Emily, I don't have any helpful information about your eye condition, but I wanted you to know that I just said a prayer for you.

I hope that they are getting you in quickly. I am in VA. also (northern) maybe I could help get you to your appointment or maybe you could call the MS society for assistance.

Please make this a priority! Is Uber available in your area?

I agree with the previous poster.call the MS society for assistance.
Something else to consider are the side effects of corticosteroids. You can find them here, http://www.mayoclinic.org/steroids/art-20045692?pg=2
I wish you the best of luck. I will also say a prayer for you.

        Hi Emily,
It sounds like you answered your own question:

Existing macular problems that have gotten worse is an obvious answer for why your vision is only 20/60. There could be other things going on too. You just saw your eye doctor. What did s/he say about it?

Glasses prescriptions can sometimes change a lot in a short time. That's happened to me a couple of times. The person to ask about it is your eye doctor. What did s/he say?

          Macular issues

          Hi Emily,

Did your doctor explain what was wrong with your macular? Do you have macular degeneration? If so, that is the main issue with your vision. My mother has it in both eyes (one eye worse than the other) but she has managed to keep her vision stable with shots that she gets in here eyes (she rotates each eye every other month). If this is your issue, you need to see a specialist who can help you and if necessary give you these shots.

I hope you get answers soon.
