My last job was as a classified service employee for a large school district. I was the network/ computer analyst.
The district asked me to teach 2 periods of computer classes each day, in addition to the 7.5 hours a day of my "regular job" with the district.
I said, "Sure." ... 2 years later I resigned that extra job. I just could never deal with the sleepers, talkers, readers, and worse.
Funny.. my first day, I filled out a handful of referral slips and taped them on to the whiteboard in front of the classroom. I told my 29 students that I wouldn't be tolerating any nonsense.
I sent 5 students to the dean in my first 2 days....
I enjoyed teaching every once in a while, but I applaud all of you career educators for what you do, especially those of you that teach 9th graders.
