Help, i Need A Handicapped Accessible Vehicle

This is a desperate plea for help. I am in desperate need of a vehicle that's wheelchair accessible for me to get into with my wheelchair. My husband is a disabled vet and his back is just too hurt to be able to pick me up and put me into our current vehicle, which can't be converted to accommodate me. And the problem we're having now is income, or lack there of. We are living only on our disability which is barely enough to cover our mortgage and utilities.

I've looked into grants, etc with no luck. Does anyone have any suggestions or advice?

To prevent people from putting effort into suggesting things you've already tried, can you tell us specifically which programs you've investigated or applied to and why you don't meet the requirements?

Crowdfunding has become popular in the last several years. You could set up an account with a site like Kickstarter or GoFundMe and publicize it heavily.

      Hi angela,

      Have you tried the following?

      http://www.themobilityresource.com/f.../state-grants/
Click on your state and see the various options available in your state.

And specific for disabled vets -

      http://www.creativemobilitygroup.com...rces/veterans/

      http://www.benefits.gov/benefits/benefit-details/278

Good luck on your searches for a grant!

        thanks Seasha

        Seasha:

thank you for posting the links regarding possible ways to deal with wheelchair transporting.
I too need to get from one point to another (longer distance) to meet with a neurosurgeon
        at UofM clinical center.

I am bumping this up in case someone else might have missed this post.
