Can new inflammation press against old lesion?

I'm just curious if new inflammation in a similar place to old damage/lesion can make an old symptom return (like its pressing against the previous lesion area). Not sure if this makes sense but does anyone know?

Yes it can. Because that area (old lesion area) is still there and is still causing a "short" out of your nerves, new inflammation around it with swelling can cause the same symptomatology that you had when that lesion itself was inflamed. Ain't MS fun Its the disease that just keeps on giving.
You should talk with your neurologist about this phenomenon. I am sure he/she can explain it in more detail. Are you being treated for the inflammation/new lesion? If so that should help quite things down.

Good luck and hope you feel better soon,
