Curious about alternative treatments such as HGH

Hello, I am a first time user on here. I will be coming up on the four year anniversary since getting diagnosed. I don't really talk to too many people about what is going on, including friends and family. I get buy pretty well but have been wondering as of late if there is other things I can. My diet is pretty decent, I try to remain active as I am a very stubborn individual. I did have to change job careers as a result of the diagnosis and now have an office job where before I worked out doors and loved it. The problem I find with it now is that I feel very fatigued by the time I get home and find it so hard to get the motivation to do my exercise routines. I have noticed tho in the last year that it is has been much harder to gain the muscle compared to before.

My question I am asking I guess and if anyone does read this. Has anyone heard of using HGH to help in the rebuilding process of muscles. I am currently on a topical Testosterone to help with the fatigue a bit, I had my levels tested and they were low. I have done some research but I am always a bit skeptical of what I read on the net. I am a 40 year old male and was very active prior to being diagnosed. I asked my neurologist about it and she was not overly excited on the matter. Like I said I have read articles on it helping and the name being Human Growth Hormone to me is self explanatory.

So if anyone does read this any and all info would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi Kto,

Welcome to MSWorld! Sorry to hear about your diagnosis, and hope you find this place very supportive and informative. Glad to hear you've been getting by pretty well and remaining active. The fatigue you mentioned is pretty common with MS, and makes it hard for so many of us to do the things we want to. We have an entire subforum under "Symptoms" dedicated to fatigue: http://www.msworld.org/forum/forumdi...hp?130-Fatigue. You should also find this link informative, and besides testosterone you might want to seriously consider a prescription medication to combat fatigue. http://www.nationalmssociety.org/Sym...mptoms/Fatigue
    .
Unfortunately, there is no holy grail to building (or even maintaining) muscle mass. You have to challenge those muscles the old fashioned way in order to build them (and continue using them to maintain them.). You are wise to be skeptical about claims you've read regarding HGH and anything else that affects your body and your health. And because you have MS, you need to be even more careful than otherwise healthy people about the things you choose to put into your body. Please remember to always get your information from reputable sources. Here's a few to get you started:

    http://www.mayoclinic.org/healthy-li...-20045735?pg=2

    http://www.webmd.com/fitness-exercis...th-hormone-hgh

If HGH did everything that was claimed, there would be substantiating, documented medical evidence to support it after 30 years.

    Good luck ,

HI and welcome to the boards. I know what you are feeling. I am 57 and I was very active and pretty fit. Until I was visited by MS, the uninvited guest. I don't think there is anything in the homeopathic world of supplements that can fix this problem. I would suggest that you ask your PCP these questions. I would be careful with using hormones. Make sure that your doctor is on board with every pill and topical cream that you use. Good luck
