    Think I need new docs...

This is seriously just venting. I truly cannot understand how this behavior can considered okay.

I called and emailed my neuro on Saturday because I was having new - and severe symptoms - and thought I needed IV steroids ASAP. Literally no response. He does give me a script for oral steroids in case of an emergency, so I started those.

This morning, still no response. My legs started locking up. It's 11 am, and I've already gone through 100 mg of predisone and 40 mg of baclofen (I usually hit 4 hrs later). I called the primary and explained the situation and said I didn't know how to handle.

The response: 1) you can keep calling the neuro 2) What happened to the second opinion you said you were going to get? (It's a clinic - a phone call in Jan netted me an appointment in early April and they wouldn't see me sooner) 3) I'm a primary care physician; I don't treat neuro issues and its sunday 4) Go to the ER.

I ended up in tears. I understand it isn't her job to provide meds, but seriously? I think all of us know the ER is relatively useless. My local ER has ONE oncall neuro.

Thankfully, the second dose of predisone took my legs from excruciating to a dull pain, but I have no clue where to go from here. I'm trying to stay out of the ER, obviously my neuro isn't going to call me back, and I have a distinct feeling the oral predsone is the only reason I can still bend my ankles.

Needless to say, I am more than frustrated and very disappointed. Seriously, how can this be considered okay?

    bless your heart!

and your legs and everything that is going haywire!

crazy, but we're not allowed to get sick at night or, heaven forbid!, on weekends.
your neuro's office doesn't have a dr on call for emergencies?
very strange, unless s/he's not in a group.
try call ER & find out who neuro on call is. maybe they will help.
sounds like your dr is pretty confident in your ability to care for yourself if allowed to dose out prednisone & baclofen. try to take them as you know to do and relax, drink lots of water etc.

not surprised by PCP's attitude. that's what the specialists get the big bucks for!
    sorry, you're going through this.
praying that you'll feel better soon.

    keep us updated!

take care & God bless ya!
