How can you be sure you get an accurate diagnosis?

I have been through the wringer with my neuro problems the last nine years. Doctors and medical professionals never agree and so I wonder how I will ever get an accurate diagnosis. I honestly don't know who's expertise to trust anymore.

First radiology report (2006) said two lesions.

First neuro said he thought I had Thyroid problem. He was wrong as it tested as fine. He had no idea why I had lesions, signs and symptoms. Discharged me without treatment. (2006)

Went to a physiatrist and he examined me and thought it was likely MS. He sent me to MS specialist. (2006)

MS specialist reviewed MRI and said there were five lesions and it was probably MS. (2006) After a year she said she wasn't sure anymore and discharged me without treatment or explanation.

GP is now thinking this is something other than MS and wants me to see general neuro to consider other problems. Go this week.

ER doctor this weekend thinks it possibly could be MS and wants me to see MS specialist. In a few weeks.

Now have appointments this week and later with two different neuros. I am really anxious because there never seems to be an easy, straightforward answer. Really confused as to who I am supposed to believe and if they are even going to be accurate in their assessment. Obviously medicine is not an exact science, but who are you supposed to believe and how can you have any confidence in what you are told?
