Just a question. Is there any real purpose for me to get an MRI?

Getting an MRI could help you in knowing that there is nothing you need to worry about.

I had a MRI on my hip two months ago, and I had my rings on. I hit the button and questioned whether that was OK, and was told it was fine. Had no trouble with my platinum and diamond ring, but the other started vibrating a lot. I waited for the end of the segment and asked them to come get the ring......

My hubby reluctantly had his ring cut off at the jewelry store, they restored the ring, resized it, cleaned it. It looks fantastic and he is happy. I would guess most jewelry stores are equipped to cut rings off.

As for brain MRI's.....well I've had 3. One before diagnosis, one during a flare 18 months after starting medication, and the last one about a year ago. Still had MS darn it.

That is a good idea, I could have it repaired : )

But I will never ever be wearing a ring or earrings ever again. I am going to the jewelry store, to use the diamond to make a ring for my daughter.

Hmm, my daughter never goes with me anywhere, but she agreed to go to the jewelry store, to use the diamond, to make a ring for her, hmm.

now, I'm worried about my octogan glass table top in my living room

Ok, I now, realize that everything I have should be plastic. But, I hate plastic. I see and read about that breaking glass in homes.

My octogan glass top for my octogan coffee table is from the 1980's, but looks brand new. My daughters will think I've totally lost it, next time they come, and I won't let them place their coffee on the coffee table.

Now, I read that other people in the room when I receive my mri, could receive burns, from the MRI. So, I'll tell them, if they insist on coming with me, they'll be spending three hours in the waiting room.

Yes but why go to a boring old jewelry store when you could go to a Fire Station and ask Firemen for help? I thought that was brilliant!

My neuro requires an MRI every year. She is an MS specialist, a researcher, a professor as well as my doctor. I don't think that doctors have the amswers, she tells me as much herself, but I have been doing fairly well under her care and I try to do what she says, unless I think it is more damaging to me than the MS itself.

I do have insurance, my company has changed insurance often, once it cost me $1,300 for an MRI. I pay attention now, make sure it's covered and what it's going to cost first.

This most recent MRI in September, I was running high on the anxiety scale, I couldn't calm down enough to allow myself to be strapped to a board and stuffed in a tube and pounded on for an over an hour. I had to reschedule and I asked for a valium. I took half a valium, and that was really nice. That stuff is really nice. I wish I could take it all the time. I see why people do. Suddenly everything just seemed like it was okay. Oh, you have to re-do 10 minutes of the table shaking and pounding in my ears while I am lying in this stark white scary tube? NO PROBLEM! everything is a-o-kay. Go ahead and take your lunch. I'll wait in here.

Woah...why no jewelry for yourself? Life is short. Our daughters will get our "good stuff" soon enough! A woman has the perogative to change her mind! If I were you, I would get it resized for myself even if it was the size of a bangle bracelet! Sorry, DD!

When I was first diagnosed with MS, I turned to my SIL, a veteran MSer for advice. Her advice?: "Remember to to put on your earrings." OK, I get it now. MS can quickly dehumanize you if you let it. Admittedly, I don't "put on my earrings" every day, but I still need to feel like a person...feel feminine...feel like a woman. My earrings have helped me more with my MS than any MRI (minus the first one that diagnosed me) ever did!

              Good luck, Marie12
