    Somatosensory Evoked Potentials Results

Looking over the results of my Somatosensory Evoked Potentials that I had done way back in April and fearing this means lesions in my spinal cord. =/ Anyone else have similar results and lesions in the spinal cord? My soon to be ex neurologist said my results were "fine"! I got them myself and see they are not. I see a new neuro on the 25th, she's an MS specialist too. =)

    The reports says:

Hand- Right median nerve only the N20 was clearly visible and reproductive and the N9 and N13 could not be clearly identified. The N20/P25 amplitude was 4.2 microV on right side stimulation.

Ankle- N10 could not be identified on the left. No clear popliteal fossa response seen due to dysfunction anywhere between left ankle and right Somatosensory cortex. Clinical correlation is recommended.

Saja: What did your neurologist say about your report? Most MS reports are riddled with latency problems which I don't see on yours, however, this does not mean you don't have a problem. Latency just means that the nerve signal is slow in getting from the brain to the nerve like in MS. It seems you have some absence problem.

If your neurologist does not call you back, or does not give you answers, take the report to another neurologist and ask them. There may be something you can do about it, or it may just be the way you are. Sometimes we don't know what we are born with until we are tested years later. No matter. If it is something that needs attention, a new neurologist may be just what you need. Most new people go through several if they have no brain lesions.

Good luck and let us know how everything goes, OK?

Hello and thank you for the reply! My neurologist said the report shows "something" is off and she left it at that. I do need a new neurologist, my PCP advised it. I do also have brain lesions. Does the fact that I have what you called an absence problem mean something different do you know? I assumed that absence was even worse than latency. I was diagnosed with PPMS but will get a second opinion with the new neuro.
