Gigi Jordan guilty of killing autistic son.

This case really hit home for me. I coudn't figure out how to put a link to the article from Huffington Post.

It was mentioned that not only was she caring for her non-verbal son with autism, but her husband had just been diagnosed with MS.

Not only are we raising a child with autism, but my son and I were diagnosed within 3 months of eachother. It's been a difficult, but rewarding journey. Not once have I ever thought life would be easier without him.

I guess this story highlights what we all fear, that our caregivers will get overwhelmed with our needs.

It made me realize what a wonderful husband I have. He has never given up on me. He is a wonderful father. He provides so much for us all.

Thank goodness our family has not gone down this road. I cannot imagine killing my own child, no matter how bad things got.

Interesting story. We all have issues besides MS to worry with. Too bad this woman didn't feel like she had the help she needed.

Thanks to all the caregivers out there. We literally could not do it without you.

This is so sad. She had more options than most, due to her financial situation. She should have let this child live!

I have a child who is autistic. She is also beautiful, smart, funny and full of life. She didn't ask for her limitations any more than anyone of us asked for MS.

This child and every child should have been protected.

My ears perk up whenever I here the two letters MS (even if it is for an ad for getting your MS Degree), so I did hear this story. I never heard of MS making the news in such a bizarre way: "My husband's MS made me do it"!(?) Like a lot of spouses, my husband freaked out when I was diagnosed, but I will never be able to wrap my head around what this woman did with that same news about her husband. Very sad indeed.

          So sad.

It really is so sad. I love my son soooooooo much. And my husband has been so strong throughout.

I can empathize with the level of frustration raising a child with autsim. It didn't say what type of MS the husband had or how it has affected his ablility to help. I'm sure that diagnosis must have been overwhelming.

But killing your child? There is nothing in this world that would be bad enough to make me kill my child.

Thankfully, my husband is awesome at dealing with the chaos.

            Hi kitty,

This story was sad indeed. I don't know how this woman got off with manslaughter instead of first degree murder.

I found it interesting when you mentioned Gigi's husband had just been diagnosed with MS. But, I think you are confusing the information with another autistic mother's husband, Jillian McCabe, who recently killed her autistic son by throwing him off an Oregon bridge.

You are correct, Kimba, although I find both stories utterly sad. I just can't help wondering what was going through that boy's head after he got pushed off the bridge and before he hit the water. Just awful!

It was Gigi's husband who was diagonsed with MS. It is not mentioned in either of the articles, but in the original story about Gigi Jordan, it mentioned her husband having MS.

                  My apologies.

You are correct. It was the other mom who's husband was diagnosed. So sad. There is help out there. You just have to look for it.
