    mri: how long?

I had an mri at a new location that my doc wanted used. It was brain and spine, with and without contrast.

It took TWO AND A HALF HOURS....... this seems ludicrous.

How long does this take the rest of you?

For the whole "shebang"...brain, cervical and thoracic spine it takes 2 1/2 to 3 hours.

I'm the weirdo that doesn't mind MRIs (at least not now)...years ago they freaked me out.

The time seems to pass quickly for me but that's because for some reason the banging is hypnotic and I doze in and out of sleep.

The higher the Tesla rating of the machine, the less time you spend in the tube.

You can request 2 sessions if you'd like. My only complaint is the stiffness that sets in from being in one position that long.
