    Preventative versus Diagnostic

Insurance company reimburses differently for preventative versus diagnostic procedures. What is the difference - how is it determined? Is your annual MRI preventative? Seems annual mammograms are preventative. Just got hit with a huge bill for an echocardiogram - was told the fee would be $50 - well. I got the bill and it's over $2000.

    should be diagnostic

    imo it should be diagnostic.

Neurologist needs to see how your MS is progressing/not progressing and then what to do regarding your treatment plan. That would land it in diagnostic.

Now, does the insurance company see it that way? Who knows?
God Bless and have a good day, Mary

      Well reimbursement is much lower

for diagnostic. So I guess as long as you don't have a disease/condition, they'll reimburse you higher. MRI's cost a fortune here in the Northeast.
