    ER or wait it out???

    Hi,

My dizziness is back for about a week it's been getting worse but on the moderate side. I've also had a headache that doesn't seem to go away with Tylenol or ASA. When I bend my head forward, sometimes my head throbs get worse.

About a week and a half ago I started to get a hot/heat flash in my lower leg(comes and goes about 10 times a day) that has gotten better but did start to spread up my leg(however it hasn't happened today)

I'm still in Limbo and don't know what to do??? I've been also having pain from my right eye and it travels to my cheeks (mini electrical shocks on my face...I have been DX with TN) but don't know if this is part of something else.

Don't know if ER will take me seriously or not....should I mention my previous MRI (small non specific lesions smaller then 5mm)

I've had dizziness on/off for a couple years, but this headache doesn't go away...plus my leg is a new symptom.

I guess I'm confused as to what to do...I had an ultra sound to rule out blood clot last week on my leg.

Room doesn't spin...but I feel like I'm floating...I'm so discouraged...I've been calling in sick a few times from work...

I'm thinking of going to another hospital (bigger/better) then the other hospital that have my MRI records...

    Does this sound reasonable???

    Thanks

ER would not be the answer, IMHO.

Your symptoms are not life nor health threatening and you would actually get BETTER treatment going to your own PCP.

        Good luck.

When in doubt, go to the ER or at the very least, call Telehealth Ontario.

          Will keep my fingers crossed!

              Hi,

Thanks for responses guys! So ER put me on IV with migraine meds...even when I told them that I didn't think it was a migraine...but because pain was mostly on my right side of face, they decided to try it.

After a couple hours to the docs surprise...no help what so ever!!!

They asked if I was being monitored by any docs since I have a few "weird issues". Told them Neuro and Rheumy
(didn't mention neuro ophthalmologist, but I think they could see it in their records as I've only been to that hospital once for an EVP with specialist)

They then wanted to keep me in for another 2 hours to try morphine. And asked "how fast can you see your neuro?".

It was 10pm and I had dragged hubby and 3 kids to ER. Decided that since they want me to follow up with Neuro...I asked for the pain meds in pill format so I could go home.

              Morphine didn't work!!!

Woke up with dull ache still on right side of face. Going to call neuro. Weird thing is last week after walking up from nap, my right eye was blurry for 30min but it cleared up...happened twice. Also had pain from right eye and it radiated to cheek...

Maybe it's my TN affecting my right side now...
              who knows

Argh Minnie, but kudos to the ER docs for trying to help and not just dismissing you!!

Perhaps I'm having sympathy pains for you lol ... I've had a sore "tooth" and "eye" on the right side for two days ... occasionally. I'm totally ignoring it .. and it's not painful enough to be TN ... but WHY???? Not to mention was on knees yesterday and couldn't get up ...

Hopefully you can get in to your neuro soon .

U were correct to go to er though

Many times, since I feel like crap all the time, I try to ignore really feeling bad. Now I am also prediabetic, so one more thing to deal with.

Several years ago, I was feeling really bad, & my husband insisted we go to ER. So, I did & this ER was packed. So, after you go to the desk & they get the pulse & blood pressure, etc., they immediately called my name.

Apparently they took me first because my blood pressure was 50/30 So, don't insist on waiting, go in.

                      Hi guys

Got a call back from neuro's office...he's at the MS clinic on Wednesday's....but back in his home office (closer to my home) on Thursday....so she squeezed me in on Thursday!

Glad I don't have to wait long at all!!!

Still having the nagging face pain (at a level 3ish...not nearly as intense as my TN pain)

                      Marie...bp 50!!!OMG that's low!!!
Aspen...hope you knee's are ok..I'm off tomorrow...hopefully you'll be at the patiently awaiting chat.

                        Update

                        hi,

Just saw my neuro, he's going to send me for another MRI with contrast, to see why I'm having the head pain in R side of face (last one was a year ago)

He seemed more curious about my dizziness...

Diabetes is very common in my family, yet my sugar levels are always good.

When I asked him if diabetes could be causing all my nerve pain in my hands, feet and back...and the heat flashes on my lower leg...he said "diabetes is not the cause of your issues"

He also seemed surprised and asked where on my back am I having the "electric shocks" I showed him that it was just to the left of my spine.

So I wait and see, hopefully I'll get an MRI soon. Also got a call from my Rheumy, and they found a nodule on my Thyroid but nothing to be concerned about.

                        Thanks for listening

                          Minnie,

I sure hope you are feeling better. When I posted, I guess I didn't realize what amount of PAIN you were in. I am so happy to hear the ER looked in to what was going on. I sure hope they can figure out exactly what is going on with you, so they can get you the relief you need.

                            you are in Canada

                            Minnie,

I also did not realize you were in Canada. I know your health system is much different than ours in the U.S.
