    how long

How long should you wait til you go to the hospital or call your dr. when you think you are having an exacerbation?

I have been feeling numbness around the left side of my mouth. I can still feel things on that part, but there is a numb/asleep sensation there. and my hands are just not holding the pen the way they should, which I know sounds dumb but its the best way I can describe it.

We aren't all the same. For me, personally, I need to contact my MS Specialist immediately, or my relapse will quickly progress and require hospitalization.
    Most people, however, are different.

    Quote from http://www.nationalmssociety.org/Tre...aging-Relapses:
The good news is that not all exacerbations require treatment. Mild sensory changes (numbness, pins-and-needle sensations) or bursts of fatigue that don’t significantly impact a person’s activities can generally be left to get better on their own.
For severe exacerbations (involving loss of vision, severe weakness or poor balance, for example) which interfere with a person’s mobility, safety or overall ability to function, most neurologists recommend a short course of high-dose corticosteroids to reduce the inflammation and bring the relapse to an end more quickly. The most common treatment regimen is a three-to-five-day course of intravenous Solu-Medrol® (methylprednisolone). High-dose oral Deltasone® (prednisone) may also be used. Corticosteroids are not believed to have any long-term benefit on the disease.

It may also depend on your doctor. Some want you to wait 24 hrs for new symptoms, some say 48 hrs.

In any case, it may be a good idea to call them, just so they know what is going on. New symptoms can be really scary and frustrating.

Good luck with this, I hope it passes quickly for you and is nothing too terribly serious long term.

I am going to see a doctor tomorrow. I called my neurologist today and they think it is a pseudo exacerbation triggered by a possible UTI. (weird since I don't have ANY symptoms). but then if that doesn't work my neurologist will decide from there.

        Thank you for yalls advice!
