    Recent neuro checkup

    Greetings,
I just saw my neuro recently, and things went ok, more disability on my end. So, he ordered a MRI, and follow up.

I've been on Betaseron for about 9 years, and it may be not working any longer, can anyone tell me how they test for antibodies?

I figured it was a blood test, but maybe not. In a strange way I'm kinda excited, maybe, just maybe I could try an oral medication, and stop injections. Which would be so cool...

Thanks in advance for any advice!

    Hi Jody,

It is a specialized blood test, where they test to see if you've developed neutralizing antibodies to the drug. It's something I had done when I was on Rebif. It's an expensive test. When I had it done several years ago, it was around $1,000. I can remember my insurance company did not want to pay for it at first. It is not something a regular lab can test for, so it must be sent to a lab that does the test.

Here is is the test: http://www.athenadiagnostics.com/con...detail/q/id/34.

Hope this info is helpful. Please let us know what you find out.

    Best wishes,
    Kimba
