    Sleeping past noon

    I am started to get worried about the amount of time I am sleeping. For the past two weeks I am waking up at 11:30 or later...today was 12:30 and 3 hours later I am dragging.i part time teach 3 mornings a week and have been on Christmas break for 2 weeks so it was OK, somewhat, but next Tuesday I will need to wake much earlier than noon!
    Can such fatigue be the sole symptom of having a relapse? I was dx'ed 2 1/2 years ago and I swear the more I research MS the less I know. My MS doctor has prescribed Amantadine, Baclofn, and Ampyra these past 2 visits and I have filled them but have been so reluctant to actually start taking any...I think I need to start with one and hope it has an effect.
    I am unsure if this is enough info for those with like experiences, but am wondering if anyone has any advice for me. Thanks,and stay warm.

    I'm very careful to get plenty of sleep every night so I can work lots of hours with help from strong, black coffee but like you when I do have some time off I sleep way too much. Although it makes me feel kind of guilty I figure my body must need it.
    He is your friend, your partner, your defender, your dog. You are his life, his love, his leader. He will be yours, faithful and true to the last beat of his heart. You owe it to him to be worthy of such devotion.

      Sunapee, I can sleep anytime/anywhere. On weekends, it is not uncommon for me to sleep 12 hours at night and then take a 3 hour nap during the day and still be dragging. I work, but only with the artificial help of Provigil and tons of caffeine. Tons.

      BTW - Amantadine gave me serious weird dreams/nightmares. I eventually went off and back to Provigil. Couldn't deal. Just a FYI - don't know if this is a common side effect of the drug, but the dreams/nightmares were so disturbing, it was quite frightening.

      Sleep while you can.

        I am exactly the same! I take modafinil ( generic Provigil) and it seems to help.

          A side effect of Ampyra is often trouble sleeping. So, this drug may actually help you with your fatigue! This was another reason my MS Specialist prescribed the drug to me.

          A side effect of Baclofen can be drowsiness, so maybe the best time initially to try that drug would be before bed ...

            I'm a sleeper too I don't count hours but let's just say I sleep at night 6.5-10 hrs then can take a 2 hour nap once or twice a day with no problem. It usually doesn't bother me & I consider it "healing time" but it can get frustrating when I REALLY want to do other things but NEED to sleep unfortunately I don't have advice. I did get some medication changes which helped with fatigue, but I wouldn't say it's under control.
