Hello. I am new to this site and just thought I would join for support and opinions. I had my first neuro appointment today testing for MS. My father has MS and so does my Aunt. I have had symptoms similar to both my father and Aunt....some that are different.

My first concern was worsening fatigue...i am exhausted most of the time, from when I wake up until night. Burning, tingling, and stiffness sensation dominate in my left leg but sometimes I have the same sensations in my right leg. There are times were my lower left leg feels "numb" and I put that in " because i still have feeling but my leg feels not there almost...hard to explain. Very uncomfortable feeling.

I had an MRI done of the brain Monday and the radiologist report shows some flares and stated something about dawson's finger. When i went to the neurologist today he did not see the same thing as indicated in the MRI report. He said he could certainly be wrong or missing what is there. He is ordering a Spine MRI and EMG. Then eventually i might have to have a spinal tap. All very stressed....just want answered. My moods have been everywhere..meaning i can feel ok about everything happening, then the next minute i am upset, scared, and crying. It's hard. My Father has had his diagnosis for almost 20 years....and his diagnosis was very straight forward and simple. My Aunt however, it took four years for her final diagnosis.

Thanks to all who read and support.

    Welcome to MSWorld, HelloKitty.

If in fact the MRI report is right and you have Dawson's Fingers --- then that would mean MS

Many things can cause lesions or anomalies on MRIs but MS is the only cause for Dawson's Fingers.

    I am sorry

    Take care

HelloKitty86: I am sorry you have been having so many symptoms lately! Since you have such a strong family history of MS, I am glad your neurologist is still looking into it. Is your doctor an MS specialist? Sometimes the neurologist will disagree with the radiologist once he/she looks at the images themselves. Like he said, that doesn't mean he is right. So, keep that in mind if the other tests come back negative. You may want a second opinion. I am hoping you won't need one.
I hope they find an answer to your symptoms soon. Let us know how the other tests go too, ok?

      Take care

I will keep everyone up to date on how my results of the other tests go. The neurologist i am seeingbis actually the same one my father and aunt go too. So he has the family history and is an MS Specialist which makes me feel very comfortable.

        Take care
