    Hello, My name is Amy...

I was officially diagnosed with MS on 9/11/13. I had my second appointment yesterday and was hoping the Dr. was going to tell me she had made a mistake. She is the MS Specialist at Virginia Mason so I am in good hands.

I am 43, I have 4 kids ages 22, 19, 6 and 5. I work as a manager to 3 smaller apartment complexes but I am really struggling to keep my head above water.

My pain started (deep nerve pain in my legs) as a teenager but the doctors told me it was growing pains. It grew alright...into a full time nightmare of nerve pain. After my daughter was born (5 years ago), it became a constant thing (in my arms and legs) that my doctors couldn't figure out. It wasn't until I lost my job as a 911 dispatcher (cognitive difficulties) that I knew something more than a pinched nerve was wrong. It has progressed since then into an array of issues.

I am glad to know there is a site like this to let people know they are not alone. I look forward to sharing this journey with people who understand what I am going through (although I don't fully understand it yet).

Hi Amy and welcome!! Glad you found us. You are newly dx and I hope that things will be leveling off with you, symptom wise and all. It's good you found a good neuro at Virginia Mason - I had a excellent neuro there as well quite a few years ago.

You know, after having MS for over 24 years ago, there are things that I still don't fully understand as well - you're in good company here - we all learn from one another!

Make yourself at home here and visit often. We also have chat if you're interested. Take care
