    Twitching?

Hi guys, haven't posted in a while but I still lurk

Happy to post that I have not had any major symptoms and I am still officially in limbo. If you take a look at my history of posts you'll see my first problem was for a VI Nerve Palsy back in Sept. Was given MRI which found some white spots, and pred. which took care of the eye problems.

So on that front everything has been good. Now these last few months have been pretty weird, since back in Sept/Oct I have been getting full on body twitching everywhere through my body. The twitches are visible and pretty strong. In May I started getting some even weirder twitching that would actually move my toes on my right foot.

Has anyone else experienced anything like this? Any fellow twitchers out there??

I have had twitching in my left leg, usually at night, not every night though.

Not sure of the actual circumstances that trigger this (other than having MS). This has been going on for many years, however.

Hello. Not so much twitching as quite violent spasms. Makes the foot rest rattle. Only in the legs. Was just in the left, now it's in the right one as well.

Only happens when I'm tired, or too hot, or too cold, so pretty much every day.

In 2006 I was given a probable MS diagnosis after a Bells Palsy-like episode. Within a year the twitching started, first in my calf muscles, then the thighs. Eventually I began to have pretty strong twitches in some muscles of my chest and upper abdomen. My shirt would actually move. None of my twitches hurt, but the torso ones can be pretty uncomfortable. I also have strong muscle spasms that do hurt, but those are few and far between. Baclofen pretty much takes care of the twitching. I started on 10 mg three times a day about three years ago. Now I take twice that.

Supplementing with Magnesium will help calm down twitching.

          Google: multiple sclerosis magnesium twitching

Try taking Magnesium, Magnesium Orotate is probably best 2-3 times a day.

Most people are deficient in Magnesium.

If you have a twitching problem at night, they make this Magnesium drink called "Natural Calm" which I find works especially well. Drink a glass an hour before bedtime.

I also have experienced twitching. Mine are not usually visible to others. And they usually only involve one area, like sometimes I get a twitching in my four arm. For a while, my eye lid would twitch and it would drive me crazy, but no one else noticed this.

I twitch, mostly my fingers on my right hand. My thumb and pinkie can be visually observed when twitching. I also get larger jerks, sometimes strong enough to involve my whole torso. Google findings seem to suggest that my bigger ones are called myoclonic jerks. I really only get those when sitting or standing.

The most annoying is when I'm really tired, and my facial muscles twitch while I'm trying to fall asleep.

As far as twitching goes, I almost never stop moving lately.

Here a twitch, there a twitch, everywhere.....

                Noah,

Think I know how you feel. I have tiny twitches occasionally in my eyes, fingers, etc., but the more nerve wracking ones occur when I lay down at night.

Instead of twitches, my muscles jerk so severely that I feel like I need to hold on to my hubby so I won't b thrown to the floor. I tried to explain this to somebody and they said "oh that's just restless leg syndrome". I suggested they come stand by my bed each night so they could see for themselves.
If they ever show up, I hope they're wearing a cup and other protective gear! Besides my arms and legs, my torso/pelvis gets in the game.....

                  Noah,

I was Dx's on 5/13/13. I have cerebral and spinal lesions. I, too, have body wide twitching. The MS specialist insists it's unrelated to MS because MS is a disease of the CNS and muscle twitching indicates damage to the PNS. I have read, however, studies that suggest MS can affect the PNS. Also, Dr's now recognize certain symptoms, e.g. burning in feet, etc. that appear PNS in nature. Who knows? My point, the twitching for me came only after the last flare which lead to me Dx. I can't help but believe it's related. My theory is it has something to do with lesions in the spine.

Eric, I had body-wide twitching and fasciulations that prompted me to seek out neurologists for MS and ALS testings.

It's probable you have BFS - benign fasiculation syndrome, which is what I was told.

Yes, I have twitches! The worse ones for me are the facial ones that involve my eyes. Sometimes it feel like my eyeball is having a spasm in the back. Not fun! So far they are not painful but I don't want some strange man to think that I am winking at him. lol

I was initially diagnosed as BFS, but now told Hemifacial spasms. blah!

Now the painful ones have been in my legs, just recently. ouch! and I also get them in my tummy.

                          twitching

                          hi Noah091,

i know i am replying to a late thread but thought i would post none the less! yes i twitch all over aswell! everything I read says it it nothing to do with MS so I am convinced i have mnd! i don't spasm but i do get jerks or mycolonus as they're called. I mainly get it when I'm going to sleep and keep startling awake just as I drift off! or else my leg does the whole restless leg thing! other than that I pretty much twitch (not jerk but twitch) all throughout the day.

do you still have the twitching or get an answer as to what it could be?
