    Nuerologist again

I have been having more symptoms and go back to Nuerologist in a few weeks. She said since I am having new symptoms. I don't know what they will do and wondering if I will finally get diagnosed. My MRI came out fine in december. It has been 6 months since my last appointment. Wondering if anyone got a diagnosis after just six months?

Some people get diagnosed within one month. Fopr other people, a diagnosis takes years. It all depends on when the person's symptoms and test results confirm dissemination in time and dissemination in space. And some people get diagnosed with MS just because nothing else explains their signs and symptoms.

If the doctor orders a new MRI and it shows lesions, you might get a diagnosis. If it doesn't, then you probably won't.

I've had flare ups of symptoms many times over the last six years and saw the neurologist (MS specialist) each time. I even had a mild case of ON in 2008. My MRIs didn't show any lesions until the one in 2010 popped up with 5 of them, but even then, they're in the wrong place or the wrong shape or whatever. So, no diagnosis.

There is a specific set of criteria called the McDonald criteria which has to be met for diagnosis. If we don't meet it, then the search for answers goes on.

Good luck at your appointment. I hope you get some answers; but if you don't, I hope you at least get some relief from your symptoms.

        Hugs,

        Lisa

Cut aspartame from my diet in 2012 and my symptoms have slowly disappeared. Interesting!

I can't tell you anything more than what has already been posted. It took about 4 MRI's to get a final definite diagnosis. But I have come to a decision that I will submit to you.
First and foremost, even though you are seeing a specialist, his/her word isn't all there is. Never disregard your ability to get second and third opinions.
Second, do all you can to know this disease and all of its treatments. Keep current on the news.
Third, treat yourself with everything that is available. Rx drugs, diet, exercise and vitamins/supplements.
Do not give up on yourself. I say that always because I am selfish. If you discover something that works for you, maybe someday your discovery will help me. If something works for me, this site will be hearing from me, you can bet on it. Good luck

Thanks for the replies and I hope they do have an answer for me. I don't have results from my last MRI and think I should request them. All I was told on the phone is that they were normal. They said my eye issue is opthalmoplegia.
