Tegretol does help with some kinds of pain, but watch out for the side effects!

I have to agree with the side effects statement. Tegretol made me very very sick and I had to stop.

For some people it's a godsend though.

Be careful with the Tegretol/Trileptal. I was on the latter for a year before the doc tested my sodium levels, which it could affect. Turned out that the med. had lowered my sodium so much that I was in the "dangerous" level. I had to get off of the med. immediately, and limit myself to 2 liters of liquid a day, for a week.

Your doc should test your sodium regularly, if you're on Tegretol or Trileptal.
