MS ID Card and My Very Necessary Medical I.D. Card

There is a REAL MS Card!

That is what I thought this post was until I dug in a little deeper.

If anyone is interested in obtaining a card contact:

AND my answer to this question is - IF you feel at anytime your MS and you quality of life are in jeopardy then say something!

'Aunt Tanya, you always blame MS!' My niece rolled her eyes at me. She was harassing me for forgetting what time church started and causing us all to be 30 minutes late. I, of course, blamed the MS--like I always do.

I have only needed to seriously 'pull the MS card' once when my boss wanted me to put a hot costume and parade around in it for an hour. Otherwise, I like to blame all dumb things I do and say on MS for two reasons: first, prove that it wasn't MS-related and, secondly, it's no fun having a major disease if I can't use it.

Now that we've all argued and harassed each other, when was there a funny time you pulled the MS card? I know I'm not the only one.

I once said the wrong word, and a very funny one at that, while in the middle of a conversation with 2 mechanics at work.
One of them was making fun of me and I said..."Shut Up I have MS!!" and he said..."Oh yeah? How long are you going to use THAT excuse?" as he is still laughing at me. and I said very seriously and slowly...."For the rest of my life"
Then we all laughed and he said I guess you probably will huh?...lmao

This is great, thanks for sharing! I often wondered what would happen if I happened to be pulled over...I also got questioned at a casino last year as they thought I was drunk!

Jbell: When my husband and I go to restaurants, I drive home if he has a beer or two (I drink water in restaurants). I also have thought about getting stopped because of the way I walk to the car. I keep a copy of a letter in the glove compartment from my Primary Care doctor which states I have MS and cannot perform jury duty, just in case that happens! A real "MS Card" would be great, though. See what you started, lol? Nora

Happily, I know all the police in town (I still write the crime reports for the paper) and they all know I have MS.

Strangers do indeed give me concerned but silent 'should you really be driving, you look as though you've had a few' looks.

We have a lot of slang terms for drunk in Australia. One of which is 'legless'.

There's an irony there. I can say loud and proud, "yes, I'm legless" and I haven't touched a drop.

A disability parking permit is very useful.

I am the queen of playing the "denial card" and it does usually have disastrous results. I get even a hint of energy and I'm off cooking and cleaning and whatever else. Until I hit the proverbial brick wall. I'm also really good at downplaying my symptoms with my neuro. He now looks to my husband to confirm what I am saying is the full extent of what's going on.
