    Question

Does anyone know if you can earn any money while trying to get approved for SSD. My hubby is the pastor of a small church and he does earn a small amount of pay each month. Will this count against him? Thanks for any help you can offer.

Yes, you can, but there is a limit.

Take a look at the whole site for lots of info regarding SSDI.

You can but all states are different in the amounts you can earn. It has to be enough that you could live off of the income. Check with your local states Social Security Office. They have a site on line as well.
This is the day that the Lord has made. Let us rejoice and be glad in it.

      Have a great day, Leola

SSI, Medicaid and Temporary Disability may by affected by which state you are in. SSI and Medicaid's eligibility are income based and will vary from state to state. SSI is funded by the US Treasury General Funds with most states supplementing the federal payment, Medicaid is both state and federally funded and Temporary Disability programs are state funded.

See here for basic SSI income eligibility :http://www.socialsecurity.gov/pubs/11000.html#part3

However, SSDI is a completely federally administered program funded with your SS taxes. Eligibility is not financially based, so their limits are the same for everyone. If you make beyond a certain amount, you are deemed able to work/support yourself, so you aren't "disabled enough".

Benefits are determined by your work history, but beyond that, unless you are legally blind, we all follow the same rules as far as income limits.

The link I posted earlier is for SSDI income limits. It's important to know which program is which as they do have different benefits and eligibility requirements. Also, it is possible to receive both. While SSDI may allow you to work and make $X a month, SSI may not. If you apply for both, you need to consider the amount made more carefully.
