    Can Lesions Disappear?

I have had MS for 6 years. Scan after scan only shows the same 2 lesions, yet this last MRI shows NO lesions at all. I am on my third neurologists which state that had it not been for the tiny white matter I may have never been diagnosed with MS. Has anyone had their lesions disappear?

My pcp's nurse just went out on ssdi with MS. She has soooooooooooo many visible sx's. Her twin sister also has MS. And guess what. She has had mri's that show zero lesions, and than 6months later, she is filled with lesions, than may show no lesions again. I was floored when she told me this. She said her MS specialist said it's common. And it must be. Cuz as I said, she has drop foot, eyes are messed up,so on and so forth.

      Hi diva:
Yes, lesions can heal to the point that they're no longer visible on MRI. They may resolve completely (which understandably corresponds to the remission phase of relapsing-remitting MS), or they may resolve to the point that they're too small for the MRI scan to pick up but are still there.

I had a sizable spinal cord lesion that resolved to the point that it's not detectable on MRI anymore (which is kind of surprising, considering how big it was), yet I still have lingering symptoms from it.

        Yes.

Lesions grow, swim around, disappear, shrink, etc. I got over 20 years of MRI films to prove it... Yeah - I know. We're looking at different levels of cuts but hey, I'm not dumb. They do fade away.

Yep, they can. For a long time I had the same two big lesions, then a third. Then two years ago, one of those had disappeared and I had 4 new small lesions instead.
