    Delayed flushing

I'm on week 7 of Tecfidera. I had almost no side effects. The runny nose from the first month went away totally.

The last 2 days, though, I have experienced flushing twice. It was nothing bad at all, but I look like I have a mild sunburn on my face and neck area for about an hour at a time.

    Anyone else have delayed flushing?

Yep, mine was delayed also. I had a very brief moment of it after taking my first pill (I didn't look red but just felt this weird burning, sick sensation for a minute or so) but then didn't have it again till ... week 6 I think? I started Tec 3 months ago and it's happened to me maybe 4 times total and lasted an hour or less each time.

      Flushing

Yes I have flushing, too. Starts on top of my head, then neck, shoulders and upper back. Itchy and red but goes away in about 20-30 minutes. Starts about 2-3 hours after I take the Tecfidera.

          Great question!

I too have experienced delayed flushing. I feel grateful that the sensation does not last long and my skin returns to a balanced state. It is confusing though, sometimes I react and at other times, nothing. No noticeable pattern whatsoever.

My flushing is initially visible on my ears, especially the left. I still have sporadic flushing, but it leaves as quickly as it comes normally lasting only a few minutes.

On average, the maximum concentration of Tecfidera's active metabolite is found 2 to 2.5 hours after ingestion. Eating a fatty or heavy meal delays the peak concentration in plasma from from 2 to 5.5 hours. The delay caused by eating reduces flushing by approximately 25%.

I have been on TEC since it came out. (FDA approval).

I occasionally have flushing. Sometimes I just feel hot but dont get red.

For me, I think it is linked to spacing of the pills (less than 12 hrs apart) and not enough food with pill.

My flushing has never been bad until last week , my 8th week. It hit my ears...inside as well as out. For 15 minutes I thought I was going to ignite and/or completely lose all hearing.

Only thing I did different that day was I ate within an hour of taking my Tecfidera. (I have to take mine without food). Won't do that again.

                  flushing and tec

Yes med drs say flushing happens 3-5 hrs after taking it when the med peaks. I've found its all about what u eat right before taking it. (A fatty food). The fattiest thing I eat is fish and eggs. That seems to work. Good luck!
