    Frozen fingers ??

About 2 months ago my thumb stared hurting. It froze. I could not bend it. Saw Neuro last week. He said it was a trigger thumb. Said it happens to people with MS. Now I have the little finger and ring finger starting to do the same thing on same hand. And yesterday the middle finger on left hand. Last week he said he was ordering a med that is by injection. It is for 5 days. Nurse said Pharm. Co. would contact me. Have not heard anything from them. Called Neuros office and told them. This med is suppose to be like solumedrol but not a steroid. Anyon know of this med??? And how long it takes the Pharm. Co. to contact you?

    Trigger finger

I had trigger finger in my pointer finger a few years back. This was before I was dxd with MS.. Doc said it was common with people who used the mouse for their computer a lot when scrolling.

It got to the point that it hurt to pick up things with that hand. Eventually, the finger would have locked, but I took care of it before it got worse.

I had an injection of steroids into the tendon of that finger (this was at a hand specialist). Only had to do that one time though. Haven't had a problem since and i use the computer everyday at work. I think worst case, they go in and cut the tendon...but, the steroid shot should do the trick.

I make it a point to stretch my fingers/hands every night though. Don't know if it does anything but sure feels good

Don't worry - if it's the same shot I had, it didn't hurt (was a little uncomfortable at the most for me) and there were no side effects like the steroids us MSers are used to. Feel better!

      Thanks keepinon.
I have had that type of shot before in the ankle.
Thumb has locked. It will unlock if I soak in hot water.
But I now have more fingers trying to do the same.

Doc (Neuro) says this is some type of new injection that takes the place of steroids. He says I am going into another flare. And he wanted to try this set of shots instead of the 3-5 days of solumedrol.

I am really glad you posted this.
I have been wondering what was going on with my left index finger. I have other fingers that have been sore also but that index finger has been horrible. Yet I am right handed and use my right hand for most everything.
I wake up in the morning and my left hand is practically frozen in a claw and I have to force it open with my other hand and just work with getting mobility back into it. I also haven't had any grip strength in my left hand for months either.
I will mention this to my Dr the next time I go in.

My problem is in the right hand (fingers). I am right handed, but my right side is very weak, so my left hand (arm) is what I use most now.
Yes, please mention this to your Dr.. The thumb is numb from the joint up and feels like it is burnt. Little finger is starting to get that way. Ring finger is just very sore at the knuckle.
I hope to hear what your Dr. has to say.
