    Question for those taking LDN

I saw a new neurologist last week as I have moved to a new state and am starting anew with all my docs. I inquired about getting a script for LDN and he was happy to comply with my request. He said that he could give no scientific data that it would help, but certainly couldn't hurt. He wrote the script for 4.5 mg and I was quite pleased.

When I returned home I realized that maybe I should have questioned the dosage. I see that many of you who are taking LDN started lower and worked your way up. I have already ordered the med from Skips and should be receiving it in a day or so.

Now I am a bit nervous about the dosage. One of the benefits I was hoping to see was getting a good nights sleep but now I am concerned that it will keep me up all night. When I talked to Skips they asked if it was my first time taking it but did not express any concern.

I am curious as to what others doctors or pharmacists have said about starting at a lower dosage.

Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!

    I'm Sewhappy, too!

I love to sew! Just throwing that out there.

As to your question, why not just explain the circumstances and get a new script for 1.5 and save the 4.5 for later? I don't know that it would hurt you but if it's an option to start with a lower dose I probably would. It took my neuro 3 x to get the script right. Make sure it's written as IMMEDIATE RELEASE (IR) and not sustained release.
I love LDN, best sleep ever! Good luck!

Thanks for the reply fellow stitcher!

Yes, I will probably call my doc for another script. What dose did you finallly settle on?

He did not specify the type of release in the script but the pharmacy (Skips-mail order from FL) website stated that they fill all LDN with IR.

It makes sense to start lower and then increase but I'm wondering why he gave me the 4.5 to start? It was remiss of me not to question the dosage and for that I could kick myself!

I have been taking LDN for several years. I questioned my doctor about the dosage. He started me on a 3mg daily dose and increased the dose to 4.5 mg after about 90 days. I hope you get as much benefit from LDN as I have. Good luck

          Hmm...

I stopped at 3mgs for no good reason. At this point I figure I can always go up to the 4.5.
Honestly, not a lot of docs know much about LDN. My neuro had heard of it but that's about all. I'm the one and only patient taking it at her practice!
Let me know how it goes!

I started taking LDN again recently and the doc wrote my rx for 1.5, that way I can adjust it easily. I'm moving up to 3mgs tonight. I like to give it sometime at each level to see if I notice any real differences between dosage amounts.
            Good luck!

              Thanks for all the replies!

I am waiting to begin taking the LDN on a night that I don't have to work the next day. My next day off is Monday so...Sunday night it is.

              I will keep you posted.
