Hello I've searched through the forums and found some post on lightheadedness/dizziness but nothing really on treating those symptoms. I was diagnosed in the beginning of this year but have had symptoms for years the most bothersome is lightheadedness, dizziness and some visual disturbances. The thing that makes it confusing is what exactly is causing these symptoms. Meclzine rarely helps of any just makes me sleepy. Ive been to vestibular therapy and still feel the same. I finished a 5 day IV steroid infusion and felt worse after then back to the same symptoms. So is it my MS that is causing these symptoms and if it is what have you guys done to treat it or could it be something else that I haven't gotten checked out. I've seen an ENT and he said it could be BPPV but he said to see my neuro about it, but when I bring it up he just doesn't take as much of an importance. He takes my headaches I brought up that I get like once a week more serious than the lightheadedness & dizziness I have constantly. Any help and feedback is appreciated! Thanks!

Anyone? Has no one received some help with their dizziness/lightheadedness symptoms? From all that I have been reading there's symptom management for mostly all ms symptoms but when it comes to this no one really has an answer. I'm just desperate cause it constant and everyday and its basically taking over my life its horrible! I call off a lot from work because of it too 👎 -
I don't know what the standard treatment for lightheaded/dizziness is, but I can tell you that I did have a lot of dizziness prior to starting on LDN 18 mos. ago. I haven't had any since then. Maybe you should give it a try.Comment

Most likely you do not have BPPV. It sounds like you have CNS dizziness cause by by a lesion near your brain stem. CNS dizziness can be treated with Valium, 5mg tablets. Ask your Neuro. If you need to, print out Katie's Manifesto in the Dizziness Section in the MS symptoms forum. A lot of General Neuros do not know about CNS dizziness. Although I'm not taking any DMTs along with LDN, it appears, from looking at comments in the forums, that it's okay to take both at the same time.Comment

Well I had a follow up appointment with my ms specialist and brought up LDN and he said he wouldn't recommend it to me because there isn't a lot of solid clinical trials backing it so we just dismissed it but he did prescribe me some klonopin which he said is the same as Valium. He said to take 2 pillsa daily to see of they help with my dizziness. Hopefully they help me cause that to me is what is affecting me the most right now.
The other I brought up with him is that I feel like I get tremor? Or shakes they feel like they're in my back butt and thighs. When I'm sitting or standing and these happen it basically feels like a small earthquake is happening which in turns gets me a little dizzy too. And some times my head/neck will shake toward and back for like a second or two. Are these also tremors? Or are they spasms? What's the difference. Because I get the muscle twitches in my arms shoulders and calfs. These are consider spasms correct?

I'm sorry you are dealing with the dizziness symptoms. My first symptoms were vertigo nystagmus and dizziness. My MRI shows lesions in my brainstem. I have been treated with Valium and meclizine with some effect. Once these symptoms calmed down with steroids I have started PT with vestibular training. Initially I had these weird responses to even mild exercises where I would feel dizzy become flushed then start dry heaving. Real weird. However with time I was able to do vestibular exercises for a longer time with just minimal symptoms. Maybe this might help?Comment

Thanks for the response. By reading some of those articles so far I think I have muscle twitches because I can see small movements under the skin from my muscles. And for the earthquake feeling I described i think is postural tremor because like I said it only happens when I'm sitting or standing. Since I'm taking klonopin for my central dizziness hopefully it can help with the tremors and dizziness because the sites say its used for that too.Originally posted by Kimba22 View PostComment

Thanks for the resonse AriD, so then taking valium didnt really help you? Meclizine always either made it worse or just really drowsy. my steroid infusion didnt help with my dizziness but helped with my slight jumpy eye vision and occasional blurred vision but the jumpy vision feels like its coming back. For me vestibular therapy didnt work i had my good and bad days which confused my physical therapists lol on my last day i passed a vestibular test with flying colors but i still had my dizziness, lightheadedness, elevator sensation etc.Originally posted by AriD View PostComment

The Valium really helped. I received it IV in the hospital for a couple of days until the vertigo calmed down then I was switched to meclizine. The meclizine gives me a different kind of lightheadedness but does calm down the vertigo-room spinning- nausea feelings.Comment

Solumedrol & Vertigo
I had a 3 day solumedrol IV treatment and now I'm swollen-puffy wobbling tipping. Everytime i move my entire body hurts when i turn my head or just move i get dizzy. Im on meclizine & wear seaband-anti motion sickness -but nothing helps. I drink a lot of water to stay hydrated. Does anyone have any tips on how to stop the room from spinning? My sisters & brother tell me that I should just walk it off but how do u do that when u are walking into things?Sleep is difficult to come by, take it when you canComment

When I was on my 5 day solumedrol, after my infusion my dizziness got really bad also and my body was weak and everything ached. there's was pretty much nothing I can do but to rest and sleep it off. Just try an take it easy cause its a pretty strong and potent drug.
