    Gilenya and Clenbuterol

Anyone know if these two interact? I've been on Gilenya for 6 months with no adverse side effects

    Thanks!

Drugs dot com has a medication interaction feature that's free to use that lists the major known drug interactions for a huge list of medicines.

      Hi khloe51,

Clenbuterol is banned in many countries, including the U.S. and Canada for good reason. Clenbuterol affects the heart, and anything that affects the heart would be contraindicative for use with Gilenya.

Even ingesting the drug through a food source can still be harmful to humans. It is legally only prescribed by veterinarians for horses. The drug produces arrhythmias and can cause breathing problems (Gilenya can decrease lung function). It can increase the risk for stroke and lead to decreased function of the heart.

Even 'minor' side effects such as cramping, tremors, and insomnia don't sound like a good mix for anyone with MS. While Clenbuterol has become a popular weight loss drug, I wouldn't recommend using it for that reason. I think it's more important to focus on the drug used for MS if I were you.

Since Gilenya is a powerful immunosuppresent, I'd be very careful with what drugs I was mixing with it and do so only under the supervision of a physician. I was on it close to nine months when I had some life threatening infections because of it.

I hope you continue to do well with Gilenya and good luck finding a safer alternative .

      Best wishes,
      Kimba
