    achilles tendonitis related to MS?

For about a month my left achilles tendon has been tender and there is a lump or swellling about a half to oe inch above the heel. The right tendon is somewhat tender but no swelling. I have no recollection of injurying it and had been trying to ignore it but being careful how I walk.

Anyone have any issues like this? Could it be related to the MS? I asked my gp and neuro and they both suggested either an orthopedist or podiatrist. Any recommendations from experience with this?

I have had some achilles tendonitis due to my spasticity in my legs in general. Went to PT for it. They are now considering me for the baclofen pump. So I think it is more of a consequence of the spasticity than a direct consequence of the MS. That's just my 0.02.

You can also change your shoes, the ones you are wearing may be worn out...have run into that problem. Take it easy, get massages and it will get better.

    Take care

Have you by any chance been on Cipro or a similar antibiotic recently? It's commonly prescribed for UTIs. I was on it a month ago and there's a warning on it that it can cause tendinitis and tendon rupture, mostly in the Achilles.

I do need new shoes...so may just have to go shopping and I've got a massage scheduled for Tuesday so will talk to the therapist about how to gently take massege the area. Thanks for the tips.

No antibiotics in a very long time thankfully.

        Appreciate your input.
