Fiance was just diagnosed with RRMS

Just saying hi. My fiance was diagnosed with RRMS on Monday after an episode of optic neuritis and a lesion on his spine. He's also been having some balance issues with one of his legs (and he frequently -- about on a monthly basis, although we've been lucky in the last few weeks -- sprains his ankle on that leg).

He has an appointment with his neurologist in a couple of weeks and we're hoping he'll got on Tecfidera (it's oral and it apparently doesn't affect fertility or fetus health ... we're getting married next May and we'd like to start a family in the next few years -- I'm 26 and he's 27 years old).

I love him so much and I just want to support him in the best way I can. Any tips would be so appreciated. We're very new to all of this.

Welcome and congrats on your upcoming wedding!! There is a lot of support and info here! I just started Tec in May (was on Rebif before) and the Tecfidera forum is a great place for your fiancé to get tips or ask questions about it. Best of luck!!

      Welcome, but sorry you're here.

One point to remember: much of what you read hear is posted by people having problems. As such, it can give you the incorrect impression that everyone with MS is having problems, or that everyone taking Tecfidera is having problems.

For example, I don't usually find the urge to post when I'm having just a normal day. There are some stalwarts here, though, who thankfully post regardless of their own condition. I like to think my posts my help those who are having problems.

Please remember the journey of your fiancé may be much different than what the majority of posts here would indicate. The uncertainty of an MS diagnosis can be the hardest part. But where some see uncertainty, others see excitement. An MS diagnosis makes you appreciate the fact that life is short for all of us, and that's it's critical that we live each day fully.

By the way, here's a direct link to the Tecfidera forum.
