Blisters on arms after sun exposure?

So for about a two years now? I go out into the sun and get small, pencil lead size blisters on my arms. It's only ever on my arms and my chest that I've noticed and only when there is direct sunlight that's been on my skin. They don't hurt, or itch, they just annoy me. I don't have to be really hot for them to happen either. I tested the theory that maybe it was just from heat in the winter. Still got them. And again, only on the skin that is directly in the light. They go away, but does anyone have any idea what in the world these could be caused by?

Current medications: Tysabri, Nuvigil, Levothryoxin, Vitamin D (script), and Fish oil.

It's possible that one of your meds is causing you to be sensitive to the sun, though I couldn't find that listed as a side effect. But it's always possible. Check with your doctor, and be sure to cover up when going out.

Cut aspartame from my diet in 2012 and my symptoms have slowly disappeared. Interesting!

I've wondered that too. Guess when I go see my neuro I'll ask about it. Thank you for your input Lisa.

Also, have you been treated with steroids recently? The last time I took them my skin was a wacky mess and super sensitive to the sun. It lasted a while too.

Nope. Last time I had steroids was back in April 2010. Never had them since.

I don't have blisters, but today I have burning pain on one section of my leg and my mouth has been burning/tingling all day. I get this mouth stuff every so often.

              What's up with that??

                As I've aged

As I've gotten older...probably started in my late 30s the sun breaks me out. This was before my MS dx so I never connected the two. Knew someone else once that had the same problem, what helped her was to wipe down with alcohol before going out in the sun.
I just don't sunbath anymore. My skin has that olive tone anyway.
                Good luck.

I might try that alcohol idea. I'm only 22 but it's worth a shot! Luckily the blisters don't hurt, and they do go away fairly quickly compared to regular blisters.

                    Those bumps from sun

I also get them from the sun but I take meds for nerve pain like tegritol which has that listed as a side effect

My guess is that it is the Nuvigil.

Provigil gave me red spots from the sun on my arms chest and legs for the first two months. Then the problem went away.

                          Sun Sensitivity Rash!

I attributed the rash I got to Betzferon. I wasn't getting Provigil when it started (I think). I just started my 2nd yr of Tysabri and it's somewhat better . At least I don't worry about it any more .

                            I have this

I have this, and it is called photosensitive light eruptions. It could be triggered by a number of things, like putting perfume on your body or for me the first time it came out was suntan lotion. The first time it was so bad that i was told to forgo any histamines in my diet, I lost about 10 pounds in 3 weeks. I was taking steroids and Claritine, putting a steroid cream on my skin. It was so bad it was beginning to ooze and bleed all over my body, it started out on my arms and spread everywhere in the coming days. Second time I had it, I went to a different dermatologist and she finally diagnosed it for me and gave me the right antihistamine and it took it away in two days before it would spread all over my body. I got a horse dose of Telfast.
I can feel the tingling on my skin if I put on perfume or any cream and go out in the sun. I would not wipe my skin down with alcohol as it would cause your body to react to the UV rays. If you want to wipe it down just use plain water.
